Douglas County Assessor of Colorado
Shenika Carter is a community leader and small business owner running now for Douglas County Assessor on a platform of transparency, ethics, and community-oriented accountability. With extensive experience in planning, budgeting, and management, she’s the leader that the Douglas County community deserves and needs after over 30 years of Republican mismanagement and increasing inequalities.
Shenika grew up in Atlanta, and attended the University of West Georgia, going on to earn her degree in accounting. She came to Colorado years ago, where she launched a thriving tax and accounting business. As Assessor, she will be a clear and consistent advocate for Douglas County working people - for funding the critical public services the Republican administration has attempted to gut, for protecting public schools and access to a quality education for all Colorado children, regardless of zip code, and for a more inclusive, equitable government, where everyone’s voices are welcome at the table regardless of race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation.
