Protect Florida’s Vote
Florida is one of the preeminent battlegrounds in protecting America’s right to vote. In 2018, voters across Florida overwhelmingly passed a ballot initiative that restored voting rights to many people with felony convictions. Unsurprisingly, the Republican-controlled government then required those with felony convictions to pay their court debts and fees before they can register to vote. This modern-day poll tax continues Florida’s legacy of race-based voter suppression because nearly one in four Black voters in Florida are unable to exercise their right to vote because of these felony disenfranchisement laws.
Fighting to protect America’s vote in Florida means helping 1.4 million people regain their constitutional right to vote. Stand with us as we work to ensure that we overcome and dismantle these voter suppression tactics.
