Bob Ford: There's nothing particularly unique or shameful about losing a World Series to the New York Yankees. But the Phillies have to get into another World Series in the next few years and win that one in order to join the conversation of great teams.

- youth unemployment results in permanent scars

By Phil Specht on Nov 5, 2009 6:03 AM EST

There are a class of last spring's job seekers who aren't eligible for unemployment extensions because they never had a job yet. Last fall they voted for change. Add in another class next spring and one in four will not be working.

job creation has to be the focus of the White House, not some planning for a new green future, but real progess with work projects underway

that we can't afford to nation build in Asia is Biden's best argument because those resources are needed here for roads and bridges too

FEMA wants to start collecting rent on the trailers they furnished last years flood victims. The program for first time home buyers is a classic example of drawing a line though, above which help is extended. we are sliding towards a permanent underclass like Mumbai if we aren't careful

early retirement of boomers would help if we weren't so damn selfish as a group and think we can live at the same level of affluence without being productive as we were in our prime building the current wealth

the attitude adjustment has to come from the fact the gamblers at the investment bank casinos have pissed that wealth away

printing more doesn't change that fact

why should young voters turn out in droves one year later and give endorsement to the current progress

we need to deliver

- Go For It !!!

By Luther Biggs on Nov 5, 2009 10:09 AM EST

As a baseball fan, I knew they were. But, it's my nature to root for the underdog. And, it's been nice seeing them spend all that money and not  win a championship for almost a decade. Oh Yeah, the Red Sox Victory in 2004, down 0-3 and then finishing them off - one of the "sweetest" stories in baseball and sports history.

So, occasionally, we all need a reminder  - Never underestimate the Power of the Dark Side.

Money and Power usually win....

in the waning moonlight as temperatures dropped, frost was forming on the pasture and when I went to check the barn looked across a dark landscape, and walking back the view was like a winter scene and bright and white across the fields

the third order derivatives the investment houses were betting on were what time of the morning that change in the lighting would one be able to read a newspaper by reflected starlight off the frost, and gurus that could read dew point hygrometers would be paid huge bonuses

that they gained practice keeping bootleg Cuban cigars at the proper moisture should be noted as to where the skill was gained

now the moon has set the dawn not yet here and you can't see your hand in front of your face

and yet the bonuses are paid anyway, like that exercise mattered
