And the latest from Josh Marshall:

MAINE EQUALITY UPDATE

Marriage equality is running about 4 points behind in Maine with about 2/3 of the vote in. But our number cruncher points out that a lot of the votes in the Portland area, which should be fertile ground for the pro-marriage equality forces, still haven't come in. So this could flip.

King County is coming in strong for equality.

Nite folks.  I hope we wake up to more good news...  I'll take good news on equality in ME, WA and MI  and winning in NY 23 over losing two governships.

Last night's group tango was NOT Argentine tango, but I think you prolly know that.   To me the couples always look like their partners have bad breath..hence the leaning back.  LOL

Owens (D) just won the House seat in upstate NY!  It’s been a Republican seat for something like 50 years!  The Republicans forced out the moderate Republican who was running, in favour of the Conservative Party candidate. But the moderate threw her support to the Democrat! Ha!  Excellent.  Plus! Hoffman (the Conservative guy) has conceded.   SWEET!

The HBO special on Obama is just that - very special.  Lots of personal glimpses into the man that many of us worked so hard to get elected.  The millions of people who did as well are portrayed as joyful, grateful and so very happy. Uplifting.

Sister Priscilla in my Latin class in high school emphasized the fact that Lincoln had lost 14 elections before being elected President.  Democracy's that way, and what you do and did means something.  It all counts.

Night folks, I regret my anger, but it's real.  At some point, the deception, the games, the dishonesty has to be called out.  At least, something in me insists on doing it. Compassion is better than righteousness, and I honor Annilow for her kindness.  I wish I had more of that.  But Seashell even used Annilow.

We've lots to do. I wonder can a Democratic Republic really survive 300 plus million people?   We caught Jay Leno before the local news, and are we really that dumb as a people?  I'm speechless.

But, there are so many sincere, thoughtful, knowledgeable voices here, that gives me faith.  I guess I have to say that prejudice is incurable, so it has to be gone round, the majority has to speak up, make a commitment and effort.

I hope that President Obama will be the leader we need.  That won't be obvious until we get major legislation passed.  Ed Schutz was critical about Obama's going to Wisconsin tomorrow, felt he should be at Capital Hill insisting on the health care bill.  He may be right.  What do we do with the obstructionists, the deluded, the dishonorable such as Lieberman and others?

Well, good night.  Some good things have happened tonight, and it's not over yet.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - The number of Americans who think things are going well in the country today is at its highest level in two years, according to a new national poll.

Thirty-seven percent of people questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Tuesday night say that things are going very well or fairly well in the country. That's the highest number since November 2007, just before the official beginning of the current recession. It also represents a 7-point gain since August and a 12-point gain since October of last year.

Full results (pdf)

While the poll indicates a rise in optimism, 63 percent of those questioned say things are still going badly.

According the survey, feelings of anger and fear have also declined significantly compared a year ago. But large majorities are still angry and scared.

I guess they don't live in California.  This state is in a mess.
