5 Days Left - Easy ways to support John Bonifaz
Linked to groups: DFA Boston
www.johnbonifaz.com/helpjohnwin...DFA Boston endorsed John Bonifaz, voting rights leader running for Secretary in this Tuesday's primary. Bonifaz took on the uphill battle of challenging entrenched 12 year incumbent Bill Galvin. With endorsements this week by the Boston Phoenix, Blue Mass Group (the most widely read Massachusetts political blog), and the Reverend Jesse Jackson, Bonifaz's campaign got several big boosts.
We have only FIVE DAYS until the election. You can help John Bonifaz win by doing some of these things now, when it counts the most:
1. Write a letter to the Globe or the Herald this week
letter@globe.com, letterstotheeditor@bostonherald.com
200 words or less; include your name, address, & phone for confirmation
2. Help us phonebank, from the campaign office in Jamaica Plain.
Call 617-524-5151
3. Recommend John Bonifaz on DFA-Link
www.dfalink.com/campaign.php?id=...
4. Print out some flyers from www.johnbonifaz.com/media/flyers...
make copies and hand them out to people, or place on windshields
5. Comment on our blog! http://johnbonifaz.com/
It's very easy to do, and builds readership for the web site
... and of course, we could use money - if we could afford a TV ad it
would make a huge difference. www.johnbonifaz.com/contribute...

Easy ways to support John Bonifaz
Linked to groups: DFA Boston
We have 10 days left before the election! This summer, DFA Boston voted to endorse John Bonifaz for Secretary. As John Bonifaz's campaign blogger, I'm our group's liaison to the campaign.
1. We're running phonebanks at the Bonifaz office in JP, and would love to have you join us. There are also other ways you can help. Sign up to volunteer at: www.johnbonifaz.com/volunteer...
2. Please recommend John Bonifaz for DFA endorsement, right here on DFA-Link! It's quick and easy to do. Go to:
dfalink.com/campaign.php?id=1360...
3. Please visit the Bonifaz blog at http://johnbonifaz.com/ and comment on some of the posts. More comments will draw more readers for our web site. If you have a blog, please post about John Bonifaz!
(For ideas, check out a sample blog post about him I just made: community.livejournal.com/progre... )
Remember that Bill Galvin, the incumbent, has refused to debate John Bonifaz all year, or even appear at a Q&A forum with him. Because of that, we're not getting much coverage in the press, so it's up to those of us who use the Internet to counter that with some online publicity.
Thanks!

Claire Naughton election tomorrow - join us!

If you can, come down to the district (I'll be there all day tomorrow), but if you can't, you can still join the phonebank (hosted by MassEquality) in Boston this evening or anytime 10am-8pm tomorrow, and contribute to the campaign online at Link
If you can phonebank from Boston, or come down to the district, please call the campaign at 508-339-9800, or sign up at Link and someone will call you.

Election tomorrow, please help!
Linked to groups: DFA Boston
At the last DFA-Boston meeting we discussed the special election for state representative happening tomorrow in Somerville. As many of you recall, former Somerville state Rep Pat Jehlen was promoted to the state Senate in a special election a few months ago. Tomorrow's election is for her replacement.Progressive Democrats of Somerville, the DFA group in Somerville, overwhelmingly voted to endorse Someville Alderman-at-Large Denise Provost. Last week, those present voted that DFA-Boston should join PDS in supporting Denise Provost. PDS members helped out a lot on one of our special elections last year, for Tim Schofield. They need our help now!
Denise needs volunteers all day tomorrow, until polls close at 8pm. In special elections like this, very few people vote, except those who we remind to vote. We need people to make phone calls, go door to door, and get out the vote. If you volunteer, you'll be calling or visiting Denise Provost supporters only! These are not "cold calls" - these are only people who have already said they support Denise, and we just need to make sure they vote.
If you can volunteer, please call the campaign at 617-625-3500 and let them know. The campaign office is at 259 Elm Street, next door to Diesel Cafe in Davis Square, on the 3rd floor. I'll be there all day, either at the office or out knocking on doors, and I hope to see some of you during the day or at the election night party.

Claire Naughton info & vote
Linked to groups: DFA Boston
At this evening's meeting, I presented on behalf of Claire Naughton's campaign for state rep, seeking DFA-Boston's endorsement. The sense of the group was that people wanted to learn more, and hold an online vote. Her election is February 7th, so we'll vote soon. If we endorse, then we'll try to get members to participate in a Boston area phone bank. We'll send out details about the vote soon. In the meantime, I promised to send out some information to the group about Claire and how to learn more about her...You can meet Claire in person TOMORROW (Thursday) evening.
Although the district she's running in is down in Foxboro, John Kerry is hosting a fundraiser for her in Boston tomorrow, 5:30-7:30, at the 21st Amendment [ Link ] near the state house. There's a suggested donation, but the campaign tells me to encourage anyone who may want to volunteer to come whether they donate or not.
In the meantime, or if you can't come to the event, learn more about Claire at her web site: Link
... and from my posts on Blue Mass Group about this race:

Last day to register for caucuses!
Linked to groups: DFA Boston
Just a quick reminder that today is the last day to register as a Democrat, to be eligible to participate in the Democratic caucuses for the 2006 state convention. If you're already registered as a Democrat then you're all set - but remind your friends! If you don't have any voter registration forms, Boston City Hall is open until 5pm and you can get some at the elections division. Or, at any other city or town hall, and some other places. Boston City Hall's elections division tells me they'll go by postmark, so if you put your form in the mail tonight such that it's postmarked by tomorrow, you'll be eligible.
For more information about the caucuses, see:
