DFA Meetup at the State Convention
Linked to groups: DFA Boston
A few DFA leaders across the state thought that it might be nice to get together informally at the Convention on Saturday. Representative Jamie Eldridge has invited us to get together at his "Meet and Greet" on Saturday from 3:45 to 5:00 PM at the Cape Cod Lounge in the Student Union Building. Jamie is running for Congress and has been unanimously endorsed by the local DFA group, as well as the Brandeis DFA group. He has generously allowed us to share his space so that we can have an opportunity to touch base with each other at an informal gathering. We'll be able to brainstorm about plans for a statewide grassroots summit. Burlington would like to get together with us this summer.
If you are attending the convention on Saturday, please come by and join the discussion.

FYI:
Because many members are involved in GOTV efforts leading up to next Tuesday's election, the DFA Boston Group will not be holding a monthly meeting for Nov. I encourage everyone to volunteer whatever time they can between now and Tues to help bring out the vote. We have a lot of great candidates both locally and nationally that really need our help. Let's bring them home to victory!!
We will be having a monthly meeting in early Dec. In that meeting, we will begin planning for next year. I ask everyone to start thinking about activities, issues, or speakers you would like us to have and bring your ideas to the meeting. If you are not able to attend, please email your ideas to me or one of the other organizers, so that, it can be presented at the meeting.
Deval Patrick - Rally For Change
Linked to groups: DFA Boston
In case some of you haven't been made aware of this event, the Deval Patrick Campaign sent out this info yesterday afternoon and are asking people to forwarded this to as many people as possible.Campaigns for change can often have a defining moment: a moment where the politics of old--of divisiveness and fear--are exposed for what they are; a moment where people of all backgrounds come together to demand a new and better way; a moment where a candidate rises up and calls for change, a change people feel is necessary for all of us to move forward.
This Sunday, October 15, Massachusetts and this campaign will have such a moment, but only if you participate. It will be the same kind of moment we experienced last March, when 2,500 people jammed in and around Faneuil Hall.
Deval Patrick and Tim Murray call on anyone who is tired of the cynicism, the distortions, and the finger pointing, to join them at a rally for change.
They call on anyone who wants a more hopeful and purposeful government to join them at a rally for change.
They call on people who want to talk about what we can accomplish instead of what we can't.
They call on any person who wants to be part of a community again.
They call on anyone who sees the stake they have in their neighbors' dreams as well as their own.
They call on you and everyone you know.
They call on all of us to once again demonstrate the need for new leadership and change.
Deval Patrick and Tim Murray
