About Me:

I am a 25 year law enforcement and corporate sceurity veteran. I started my police career in Green Brok Township as a police dispatcher and then becoming a patrolman. I left Green Brook Twp for the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office. While with the Prosecutor's Office I earned the rank of Detective/Sergeant. I worked in many units to include narcotics, child abuse/sex crimes, organized crime and gambling and the major crime unit. I was also the narcotics detection K-9 handler when assigned to narcotics. I was the commander of two high profile units, the Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team and the Counter Terrorism Unit. Both units were made up detectives from the officer and 30 police officers and detectives from municipalities within Somerset County.

I am currently employeed in corporate security for Imclone Systems Incorporated a Bio-Tech Company located in Branchburg. Ther I conduct investigations involving a number of different areas. I am 46 years old and have been married for 16 years to my wife Susan Chwat-Myers. I am the father of three, two boys Brandon age 7 and Bryce age 4 and a my little angel my 8 month old daughter Breelyn. I have lived in Bridgewater for 16 years. I was born and raised in Middlesex Borough where I lived for 29 years.

I am running for the position of Sheriff in Somerset County because I believe that I can bring about change in the quality of life to the citizens of Somerset County. I will do that by starting a proactive Gang Unit that will be out on the streets taking actions against gangs that currently exist in Somerset County and that are trying to establish roots into our communities. Make no mistake about it, gangs are here. When I first started working in narcotics in the mid 1980's a number of communities wanted everyone to believe that drugs were not present in their communities. Well they were wrong very wrong. I do not want to see the same things happening with gangs gaining strong holds in to our communities. I also want to make our county roadways safer by starting up a Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement Team. This would be a unit that would inspect tractot trailiers driving in and out of Somerset County on our roadways. There is a movement at hand to establish two truck terminals one in Manville and one in Hillsborough only the freight railways that run through both of these towns. This will only increase the truck traffic that is already running through our communities because the truckers want to try and avoid the toll roads and the interstates as much as possible because they do not want to get stopped by the State Police Inspection Teams working the interstates.

These are a couple of the issues that I want to address when I become Sheriff.
