Summer Lipford is a Goldstar mom from NC.
Her son was killed in Iraq. When he died, Summer contacted Rep. Foxx's office for help with transportation to the memorial ceremony at Ft. Benning.
Foxx never called her back and Summer was never able to afford to attend her son's own ceremony.
Summer ran into two of Foxx's staffers at a couple months later in her hometown. She asked them, "Why has Foxx never called me back, or answered my letters?"
They replied, "Why are you so special that our Congresswoman should talk to you?"
Summer then said, "Because my son was killed in a war she voted for."
One Foxx staffer snapped back, "Well he volunteered for the war didn't he?" And the other one piled on, "Yeah and he was getting paid over there, so what's the problem?"
--------
Folks please help us, help Summer. She is a brave woman to agree to an ad like this.

When he strode into the club after arriving from the grand opening of the Stokes County Democratic headquarters, the 64-year-old Carter looked like a beefy version of Andy Griffith, silvery hair glistening in the soft light of the lounge.
He conferred frequently with his wife Pat and campaign director Ryan Eller, a young ordained Baptist minister who has counseled marines preparing to deploy for Iraq at Camp Lejeune.

DFA endorsed U.S. Congressional candidate, Roy Carter, will be taking part in a Live Blog on BFA tonight, Tuesday August 12, at 6:00pm est.
Roy will be giving updates from his historic campaign, which has pitted a lifetime teacher, coach and farmer and a man who built his own house four different times, against a millionare who lives in a gated resort community and has all the CEOs of Big Oil in her phone's "Fav Five."
Questions and comments are welcome from anyone who drops by, and Roy will be discussing his landmark statements on mountain-top removal, gas prices, energy, environmental protection, education, and fiscal responsibility, and ending the war and preventing any others.
He will talk about how this campaign has affected him and shaped him as a person already, how it's tunred him into an activist, the excitement of being endorsed by DFA and getting Jim Dean to personally come down to a rally, and what he'll have to do to to see it through to victory.
All DFA members are invited to drop in and ask whaterver is on their mind.
What's truly amazing about Roy, is that by running as a progressive Yellow Dog Democrat, in rural NC, he is now poised to win and is in a statistical dead heat in the polls.
His former students and players swear by him and many have volunteered to canvass, phone bank and work the polls for him.
Wish you could see his 250+ pound former offensive linemen going door to door for their coach.
So, let's put a high school science teacher and farmer in Congress, one who will not back down, because he never has.
And let's start by joining him here, on tonight at 6pm for a little Live Blog fun.

Roy Carter Energy Statement
Hi folks,
Mike Cooper here. I've missed ya'll so much, that I couldn't be there at Netroots. It's been a busy spring and summer, and I'm four classes away from graduation now. But from here to the election I'll be around again, and I look forward to catching up with each and every single on of you. Especially you Susan.
Things are going great in NC, we're battling tooth and nail for DFA endorsed Roy Carter, and let me tell you the numbers are looking good, but more on that later this week.
Roy recently released an energy statement that I wanted to share with you guys. And I think he might be around tommorrow to get on BFA and listen to your thoughts and blog with ya'll so look forward to that.
Statement:
This week, in the aftermath of the tragic oil spill on the Mississippi River, Democratic nominee for Congress Roy Carter called for his opponent to stop her political games and actually work to end America’s energy crisis. Carter’s opponent has supported legislation proposing more drilling in our nation’s environmentally protected areas, and now co-sponsors a bill that would allow Big Oil companies to endanger the Alaskan Wilderness by drilling for more profits. "She has misconstrued the truth by saying that these moves would solve our problems, bringing the price of gasoline down and making our nation energy independent," stated Carter.

Roy Carter Calls upon his opponent to Stop Profiting from High Gas Prices
Linked to groups: Democracy for the High Country, Asheville Democracy for America
WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina – In recent months, gas prices have risen to all time highs and Virginia Foxx, North Carolina’s 5th district representative in the U.S. House, has gone on the defensive, placing the blame squarely on others for this looming crisis. As gas prices reached more than $4.00 per gallon in some areas this past Memorial Day weekend, Foxx is directly profiting from the pain that Americans feel at the pump.
According to personal financial disclosure records, Foxx has owned between $15,001 and $50,000 of stock in Chevron Corporation since 2004. While Americans struggle to meet their expenses in the face of runaway gas prices, Foxx stands to take part in Chevron’s windfall profits. Already a multi-millionaire (her 2006 disclosure lists her total net worth between $2.9 and $9.6 million); Roy Carter believes that his opponent should review her contradictory stance on gas prices in the face of her quest for personal wealth.
“Under normal circumstances, investing in an oil company is a person’s prerogative” said Roy Carter, Democratic candidate for the 5th District seat. “But when an elected official directly profits from the oil industry and then gets on her soapbox to protest against the unfairness of high gas prices, it just rings untrue and is remarkably hypocritical. Until she sells her shares in Chevron, I don’t think anyone should take my opponent seriously.”
In addition to personal gain from high gas prices, Foxx’s campaign has benefited from the oil, pharmaceutical, and health insurance industries. According the Federal Election Commission, since she began running for US Congress in 2004, Foxx has accepted over $200,000 from these three industries in PAC money alone, including funds from the Petroleum Marketers Association of America and Exxon Mobil.

My speech (representing Roy Carter) to the WIlkes Democratic Party Convention
I don’t know about you, but I’d rather have the DEVIL as our representative, than Virginia Foxx, because at least the DEVIL is willing to admit that he is an AGENT OF EVIL, and last time I checked, he’s the one in possession of Foxx’s soul, not her.
But I’m thrilled to be here this morning.
Throughout North Carolina, dedicated Democrats like you are coming together on this County Convention day to celebrate the proud heritage of our Party and prepare for the Democratic victory on May 6th and in the future. Thank you for attending your County Convention and for all the work that you are doing on behalf of our wonderful slate of candidates.
Roy can’t wait to see you again on the campaign trail when he visits Wilkes County again within the next two weeks.
Roy began this campaign on Labor Day of last year because he has a passion to serve the working families of our district who have been betrayed by Virginia Foxx.
Roy is proud to have been a public school educator for the last 40 years.
