Environmental Consciousness

I see stories like this one about Bush visiting the tornado-stricken south and it just makes my stomach sour.  Has the media forgotten that just a few short weeks ago we had just uncovered blatant proof in firsthand testimony from scientists that large houses of global warming data were repressed?

The systems involved in global warming are difficult to understand and scary to contemplate.  For anybody that hasn't done it, I certainly suggest that you take a look at Al Gore's movie, An Inconvenient Truth.   In that film you see why Al Gore seemed a little bit robotic when playing as Clinton's partner and begin to realize that his true passion is to help humanity.  It's a hard world to be idealistic in right now.  Regardless of that digression, global warming has openly predicted higher energy in our weather patterns enhancing them across all seasons for a long time now.  It's just been hard to come across that data because of a certain administration sticking its head in the sand about it.

If we had not been ignoring this issue and spending money on other perceived threats that were made up, we could have been preparing methods for dealing with this.  New methods of housing, new materials, structures, and techniques.  We could have spent a little bit more money on revamping FEMA, as opposed to offering another sacrificial lamb to the public.

What our administration has done to the world today has made it a worse place in every possible way.  We really need to start putting our heads together and working on what we can do to make sure that things like this never happen again.
