The game is on and with idealogical lines as clear as the one's drawn by the Palin pick we have a job to do, We must keep looking ahead. We must continue to identify our vote. We must continue to educate our vote. We must GET OUT OUR VOTE.

The stakes have never been higher in our lifetimes. For our children and grandchildren we must get this Country back on track.

And some more endorsments

August 22, 2008 at 6:05 pm by Rick Karlin

This from Democracy for the Hudson Mohawk Region, which is affiliated with the progressive, anti-war group that is similar to the Democracy for America PAC which I’m told was formed from the ashes of the Howard Dean campaign. Democracy for the Hudson Mohawk, though, is not a PAC.
Their platform is:
1. An end to the War in the Middle East and a return of our Troops home;
2. Promoting clean elections and campaign finance reform (good luck)
3. Ensuring fair and accurate elections through paper ballot/optical scan devices
4. Providing access to health care for all either through single payer or an alternative.

Their picks are:
Kirsten Gillibrand -NY 20-running for re-election to the House of Representatives;Tim Gordon –NY Assembly-running for re-election to the NYS Assembly;Mark Blanchfield -NY Assembly 105 seeking to unseat George Amedore;

Bahram Keramati -NY Senate 44 seeking to unseat Hugh Farley; and
Mike Russo –NY Senate 43 seeking the open seat vacated by Joseph Bruno.

Hudson-Mohawk had earlier endordsed Phil Steck who is seeking the Democratic primary nod in the 21st.

School Board Elections-VOTE!

School Board elections are coming up in NYS on May 20th. Ever wonder about voter apathy in general elections and primaries--try School Board races. You can't get much lower turnout.

We are a grass roots-progressive organization who has made a difference in many campaigns. Spare a few moments and help out your local community candidate. Candidate recruitment for higher office has to start somewhere and what better place then a local School Board Race.

Certified Voting-NYS WINS!

Sometimes, all the hard work through solid grassroots organizing pays off and the people get to safeguard their precious right to vote, With a Court order over their heads, the NYS Board of Election voted to approve voting mschines that provide a full paper ballot audit trail thereby protecting the voting rights of New Yorkers.

Cheers to Bo Lipari of the New Yorkers for Verified Voting, the League of Women Voter, the New York DFA organizatiins (and our Bill Sel), Citzens Action and all the people who stepped up.

On to the next issue!

A quick note from Bo on the good news.

I'm pleased to announce that after five years of hard work on the part of voting integrity advocates, New York State has rejected DREs and approved only the Automark and the Sequoia ImageCast scanner/marker for use in 2008 polling places. This momentous decision by the State Board of Elections virtually guarantees that New York State will vote on paper ballots and ballot scanners when it finally replaces lever machines in 2009.

DFHMR Brings our Endorsed Candidates Over the Line

It was a perfect day for a primary and it ended with sweet victory parties for our endorsed candidates Doug Bullock winning his Albany County Legislative race and Ken Zalewski tromping his opponent in the Troy City Council race. The ususal suspects showed up at the parties hugging and whooping: Working Families Party, DFA'ers, Labor, Citizen Action volunteers and caring Democrats who chose to take back their neighborhoods and elect individuals who care about the people and not the politicians.

Then night was even sweeter as we heard Valerie Keehn, the Mayor of Saratoga Springs won her primary race against the establishment that sought to throw her and her progessive program out of City Hall.

There's nothing magical about winning an election. It takes a team of great volunteers, some campaign leadership and a candidate who commits to going out day and night till the "fat lady sings". We'll all be back for Novemeber as we take Ken to the net as he scores a "goal", keep Vahl Keehn in City Hall and send tremors through the County as we elect Sue Haynes to the Brunswick Town Council.

 Rest today-we walk tommorow.

DFHMR OUT IN FORCE FOR OUR CANDIDATES

Well, Saturday September 8th was a busy day for the DFHMR gang as we canvassed, put up signs, and distributed literature for our candidates: Doug Bullock for Albany County Legislature, Ken Zalewski for Troy City Council and Patricia Slavick for Albany County Comptroller. Lot's of shoe leather and plenty of water kept the crew going on both sides of the Husdon.

On Friday night many of us attended Sue Haynes very sucessful fundraiser supporting her run for Brunswick Town Council. With all the food and great desserts it a wonder any of us could get up and down those driveways and steps today.

The NYS primary is less than two weeks away and our endorsed and recommended candidates need all of our help. Bullock, Zalewski and Slavick are running phone banks every night. Round up five of your friends and have them pledge they will call five of their friends and family on primary day Spetember 18th to support and vote for our candidates, This is not rocket science-its the way we win elections.

Its terribly important for folks to rsvp on our DFA link home pages for events we are sponsoring.

Members volunteer alot of their time on campaigns and work on issues but we sometimes forget to RSVP which leaves the host of the event wondering who showed up or what went wrong.

Please try and RSVP, especially if you are actually putting in your time and enegy for the many progressive causes and candidates we support.

Hi all

Time is running out as the primaries near and the general is around the corner. We endorsed three candidates and recommended others who support the progressive goals we believe in. Now they need all of us to get ontthe DFHMR site, go to candidates and SUPPORT them by clicking on the "support" button.

National DFA needs us to show our support in order for them to consider Doug, Sue and Ken for national support.

Kosiur for Assembly Special Election July 31

Written by: Hy Dubowsky on Jul 23, 2007 7:18 PM EDT

Linked to groups: Democracy for the Hudson-Mohawk Region

Ed Kosiur is locked in a tight race for Assembly in the 105th AD -Schehnectady, Rotterdam, Amsterdam.

Its the last week for the GOTV  to keep Paul Tonko's seat in the Democratic column and send a signal to all that progressive candidates are here to say. Ed Kosiur is a trade plumber and shoots strasight. He knows what it takes to make a living with his hands, not inherit a sucessful business and a family name.

Help this Saturday July 28th, 10 am at the Labor Temple, 105 Clinton Street, Schenectady, and with the GOTV  on July 31.

Together we win this one.
