MCCAIN EVENT: Stand for clean energy and an end to war Wed. 8:45 a.m. at UNLV
Linked to groups: Las Vegas Democracy For America, Henderson NV Democracy For America
Dear Friends,
This is it! Sen. McCain's daily schedule changes made it difficult to finalize plans. But we are the best rapid response team evah! His energy speech at UNLV (Tam Alumni Center, Maryland and Harmon) is a great opportunity to tell him that Nevada doesn't want recycled Bush. We oppose his callousness toward the troops, neglect of the veterans and phony greenwashing of his ties to Big Oil. Below is the invitation from the Nevada Democratic Party. Many progressive groups will be represented. We will have flags, antiwar signs and a few McSame signs. Feel free to make your own. Remember, McCain has voted FOR Yucca Mountain at every opportunity and did not support the enhanced GI Bill. His top advisor just said that another terrorist attack would be a "big advantage" for the campaign.
Below is the notice from the Nevada Democratic Party. Call the office or me with questions. As always, apologies for duplicates and messaging people whom I know can't attend.

PLEASE NOTE: Sen. McCain has changed his schedule for his trip Wednesday to Nevada. We are no longer holding our event in Henderson but instead at UNLV. Details below. We hope you can join us!
ALERT: Sen. McCain will announce his national energy plan Wednesday at UNLV's Tam Alumni Center.
Sen. McCain wants to drill offshore for oil, even though it would hardly decrease the cost of gas -- if at all.
Sen. McCain wants to build another 45 nuclear power plants, but has no plan of where to put the nuclear waste. He only knows he wants to dump nuclear waste at Yucca Mountain, 90 miles from The Strip!
PLEASE JOIN US to advocate for an energy plan that promotes clean, green renewable energy that creates jobs here in Nevada and increases our national security. We’re tired of the same old Bush policies of being overly dependent on oil. Let’s tell McCain that we don’t want a foreign policy focused on oil, and we want to end the war in Iraq.
WHAT: Demonstration to support clean energy and to advocate for an end to the war in Iraq
WHEN: 9 a.m. - 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 25 (please try to arrive at 8:45 a.m., if possible!) We will provide water!
WHERE: On Maryland Parkway outside of the Tam Alumni Center on the UNLV Campus. The Tam Alumni Center is on Maryland Parkway, at Harmon. We suggest you park either at the Thomas and Mack parking lot (easy parking, but a long walk), at the meters near the student union on Maryland Parkway, or on the residential streets across Maryland Parkway.
Please call the Nevada Democratic Party to arrange a ride to the event, (702) 737-8683.
Thank you and we’ll see you there!
