Question about email

Written by: jc on Jan 6, 2006 1:47 PM EST

Linked to groups: DFA Blog Network

Even though I immediately made sure everything under the privacy options was unchecked when I first set up this account, I continue to receive email from members of groups. I don't wish to receive ANY unsolicited email, and want to know how to achieve that. If it isn't an option, it should be.

Typo

BTW - There's a typo in the instructions under the "Leave a Comment" box. "Micrsoft" should be "Microsoft."

Duplicate reply

Hi jc,

You and I wrapped up this conversation on Blog for America, but I'll post the reply here as well for others' reference:

It sounds like you are receiving blog posts from group organizers (who have the ability to email their group blog posts). Your email address was revealed to no one, organizers see only a checkbox, not members' emails who have opted not to share their information.

Opting out of group blog notifications on an individual basis is on the next feature rollout, but I assure you that your email address was not shared.

Thanks,
Tara

Thanks

I've actually been confused about the whole contacting your group process, and didn't see the conversation on the big blog, so thank you for discussing it here too.

Thanks, Tara.

That answers my questions. Lots of improvements are already evident. This looks like it could be a valuable tool.

thanks

Thanks, jc.

This is the foundation upon which the new Blog for America will be built. Our challenge is to integrate it without losing much of it's "bloggy" character.

Keep sending in suggestions -- we discuss every one at a weekly DFA-Link development meeting. Just keep in mind that there are three of us working on DFA-Link right now (only one of which is full-time) and changes are slower than if we had a large team.

Thanks,
Tara

oops

By "only one of which is full-time," I mean working full-time on DFA-Link.

Of course, Luigi, Chris and I are all full-time employees. Hah.

Full-time for sure

There's probably not another organization whose employees demonstrate more dedication.

Huge thanks are in order, even if they can't be enough.
