LOCAL PROGRESSIVE CANDIDATES ENDORSED BY DFHMR

Democracy for the Hudson-Mohawk Region (DFHMR) has endorsed five local progressive candidates running for office in the Capital District. The endorsements cover a wide range of races from the NY 20 Congressional the several State Senate and Assembly seats.

The endorsed candidates supported by at least two-thirds of the voting members are:

Kirsten Gillibrand -NY 20-running for re-election to the House of Representatives;

Tim Gordon –NY Assembly-running for re-election to the NYS Assembly;

Mark Blanchfield -NY Assembly 105 seeking to unseat George Amedore;

Bahram Keramati -NY Senate 44 seeking to unseat Hugh Farley; and

Mike Russo –NY Senate 43 seeking the open seat vacated by Joseph Bruno.

In June, DFHMR endorsed Phil Steck, in a crowded field for the Congressional seat vacated by Mike McNulty.

Richard Jones, DFHMR Vice President, coordinated the endorsement process and offered his “most heartily thanks to all the candidates for their participation in our endorsement process. It is important that progressive candidates feel comfortable stepping up and seeking office at all levels of government.”

DFHMR has supported progressive candidates throughout the Capital District. “Our members are activists” said DFHMR President Hy Dubowsky. “They are not afraid to man phones or go door to door, even when facing long odds as we did in the first Kirsten Gillibrand, Ken Zalewski, David Soares, Doug Bullock and Rich MdNally races. Politics is not a spectator sport and our folks are not couch potatoes. We are workers and that is what made and will make the difference again through any primaries and onto November” Dubowsky added
