DFA Says, "No SOUP for you!"

A pendulum swings to the left and to the right. Finally the Bush Administration and his minions have been exposed for what they are – radical right corporate elite who will do anything to put money into the pockets of their elite friends – even if that means trampling over the United States Constitution.

They don’t care about health care, they don’t care about our civil liberties, and they don’t care about establishing a living wage for hard working Americans.

As we go into 2008, the pendulum has swung to our favor. However, we must keep the wolves out of our chicken coop.

A very hungry and tired man was invited to a feast. As he began walking a few miles to the amazing feast filled with wonderful foods and deserts, a wolf in sheep’s clothing stopped to tempt him. “Why don’t you try some of my delicious soup,” said the wolf. The man stopped… he could smell the soup…he could almost taste the sweet aroma of the juice… his hand could feel the warmth of the pot. He thought to himself… “Gee… I haven’t eaten in days, I know I have a feast being prepared for me right now, but I am so hungry and this soup looks so good...”

NO SOUP FOR YOU!
DFA is committed to getting us to that feast.

We will not settle for a wolf in sheep’s clothing. That’s why we’re committed to electing TRUE PROGRESSIVES – not some run of the mill Democrat. We’re committed to electing someone who will fight for health care, equality, and a living wage for Missourians.

Please join us this Thursday at Marco’s Pizza at 7:00P.M. As we discuss our options to get involved in the Democratic primaries.

They're talking about YOU!

Members,

Our community faces a local crisis and we're on the forefront fighting it!

We have spearheaded efforts that have registered more young people to vote than ever before! Our Rock the Vote "Save the Music" event was a huge success.

We have been fighting to vote "NO" on the bar ban that seeks to hurt our local economy, destroy our local music scene, and inadvertently increase underage drinking by causing a surge in house parties. There is a huge hole in the DWI Task Force's "safety net" to prevent underage drinking... that hole is called a house party.

Over the past few weeks SWMO DFA has appeared in the NewsLeader, GO Magazine, all local news networks, radio stations, and even debated with radical conservative Vincent Jericho. Now they're talking about us!

As we fight for the rights of young people and strive to keep government out of small businesses and individual rights, some people with political power have taken aim at us. You see, these are the very people that trust 18-20yr olds to own a gun, get married, sign contracts, vote for the president of the free world, and fight and die for our country -- but they do not trust 18-20 yr olds to go to a bar or nightclub where they can see their favorite band in a safe environment.

As SWMO DFA has stepped up to the plate to save our local music scene and downtown businesses that our TAX DOLLARS have been going to rebuild; Greene County Deputy Sheriff today told a group of 8th graders he was presenting to that sthe president of SWMO DFA "was a very bad influence." He was talking about YOU. He was talking about how you helped register a record number of young people to vote. He was taling about how you took a stand for what's right. Now he's trying to slander what we have done, but lets not let him!

Be watching for our internet campaign blitz. If you want to donate money in anyway and help us continue to get young people to the polls send a check to:

It's All HAPPENING!

DO NOT miss our meeting Thursday October 5, at 7:00P.M. It's all happening!

We are conducting a massive Rock -N- Vote effort that is receiving media coverage and building momentium as we speak! Be looking in local magazine publications and the NEwsLeader for this event. It will also be covered by THREE major radio stations in Springfield.

We're determined to get young people to the polls and fight the DWI Task Force Initiative that has been placed on the November ballot. Their initative will hurt our community economically, destory the culture of our local music scene, and inadvertently INCREASE underage drinking.

The DWI Task Force Initative's plan to band minors from nightclubs will cause a surge in house parties -- in which, minors will be drinking and partaking in illict drugs UNMONITORED. SWMO DFA is leading the fight against this initative and leading the cause in our community to Rock the VOTE!

Our newsletter has been placed on the campuses and across downtown for the month of September -- thanks to YOU! Now we need to prepare our October edition. If you have an article, WRITE IT! We desperately need your help to make your event and the November elections a success. See you THURSDAY!

Yours,

Please join us as we conduct a STATEWIDE Photo ID Canvass This Saturday, September 9, 2006

As you are all well aware by now, Matt Blunt and the Republican legislature passed the "Jim Talent Protection Act" requiring all voters to show a state issued photo ID at the polls this November. Luckily, we have a list of people that we believe do not have a driver's license or a non-driver's photo ID.

The MDP is conducting a full fledged education campaign to ensure all voters understand the new rules about voting because even if you have a driver's license or photo ID, you need to know to bring it. As part of this education campaign, Project Victory '06 will be having a statewide canvass this Saturday. Please join us at one of the following locations:

Thursday, We're Taking it BACK!

Written by: Andrew Short on Sep 5, 2006 10:32 AM EDT

Linked to groups: SWMO Democracy For America

The political environment is much different than it was four years ago… or even two. Republicans are trying to distance themselves from President Bush and their own party. It makes you wonder, why are some Democrats trying to detach themselves from their own party? This November, we're going to hold our elected officials accountable.

Please make it the premier DFA meeting this month. There are a lot of things happening - and more than a name change! We have changed our name from Springfield Democracy for America to SWMO Democracy for America to help us focus on the greater Southwest Missouri area.

Do you realize that no statewide candidate can win Missouri without the Southwest? Claire McCaskill has put Springfield and Joplin as her primary focus this election. With 36% of the votes in Springfield, Claire will be our next United States Senator, but we need to help her get there!

SWMO DFA has recently become a PAC so we can further enhance our goals of painting SWMO BLUE! This Thursday, we will be electing two new board members to serve and help shape the political environment of Missouri. So goes Missouri, so goes the nation!

With only two months left until the election, we will be working on a massive GOTV effort. It's time to start committing to SWMO DFA's endorsed candidates: Jamie Schoolcraft (139th), Tonya Cunningham (140th), and Claire McCaskill! We're going to call, knock on every door, and make sure these candidates are put into office this November.

Don't miss one of the most important meetings ever for your DFA! We have a lot to talk about as we discuss our future vision for our community, state, and nation. We have a record number of new members this month and there are TONS of ways you can get involved with whatever you're passionate about. Come Thursday at Harpo's 7:00P.M. and find out how!
