Edgewater-Rogers Park DFA adopts Brewer for Alderman

Written by: Owen Brugh on Dec 12, 2006 11:45 AM EST

Chicago may be one of the Bluest cities in America, but few places are more in need of reform.

That's why the Edgewater-Rogers Park DFA has adopted Greg Brewer for 50th Ward alderman.  Brewer is running against Bernie Stone, a relic of the old Chicago Machine.

Here is what ERP-DFA Co-host Sandra Verthein said about Greg.

"Greg supports progressive values, like using our tax dollars to improve the public infrastructure instead of wasting them on corruption and cronyism.  Greg also respects the democratic process, unlike his opponent.

"Bernie Stone and his ilk are the rattling relics of machine politics, a system that needs to become part of Chicago's history.

"Plus Stone voted against the Living Wage ordinance – twice -- while at the same time trying increase his own pay by $20,000, more than the entire yearly wages of the workers he was busy opposing.  Who can support that?"

Taking on the Chicago Machine is a huge task, and Greg needs all the help he can get.  Learn more about his campaign, volunteer or donate to the cause at www.gregbrewer.org.

Thanks.
