After a discussion of Super-Tuesday and where we want to spend our energies in behalf of the Democratic contenders, a straw poll was taken and the majority is willing to take the following actions on behalf of Barack Obama. (NOTE: Some were still not ready to make a commitment, but we had a large majority (90%) in favor of Obama.)

Seductive Poll Results Could Be Disarming.

Dems seem to be doing all kinds of good things around the country in various races according to the polls. Not to be a Cassandra, but these could be seductively disarming. In a recent summary of mid-term elections and polls, Gallup boss
gives a chilling insight.
www.pollster.com/blogs/...
Upshot is that among the voters that count, the Republican machine is still in good shape and most of the runoffs can at best be consided dead heats, not a runaway for the Dems that a lot of folks think is going to take place.
Conclusion:
We need to run harder than the Republican machine; get organized. Talk to people, knock on doors. Stay on message and work like there's no tomorrow.

Subject: [C4C]23K left to beat the fear mongers - call tonight!

This week's goal: 60,000 calls
Progress so far: 36,112 calls
Days left: 4
You're doing great! If we all keeping plowing ahead, we'll get the targeting info we need to win some of the most crucial Congressional races in the country. Can you make some calls tonight or sign up for a shift in the next 4 days?

Can you call tonight?

Dear Call for Change Phone Volunteer,
Happy Labor Day!

Thanks to volunteers like you, this has been a huge weekend in our sprint towards 60,000 calls. We knocked off over 15,000 calls in the last 72 hours, and finished all of our Connecticut districts! But we still need to make 23,888 calls in the next four days to stay on track.

The right-wing spin machine is already going full blast. In the last three days, Donald Rumsfeld equated his critics to Nazi appeasers,1 and George Bush declared that ending the occupation of Iraq would put "terrorists in the streets of our cities."2

These guys are going to spend every waking minute for the next two months trying to terrify voters into forgetting common sense. But we can beat them--by burning up the phone lines in search of the voters who are ready to send these fear mongers packing and bring some real leadership back to Washington.

But to do it, we've got to make 23,888 calls in the next 4 days--about five calls per volunteer. Please click the link below to do some calling right now, or you can sign up for a shift in the next 4 days (if you're not already signed up).

This weeks' calls are absolutely critical. We're getting the info we need to power our "microtargeting" program--which will enable us to get supporters to the polls in the most competitive congressional races nationwide.

Here's an update on our progress so far:

All three districts in Connecticut are complete! And the stakes couldn't be higher. Connecticut has three Republican districts we really need to win to take back the House--and of course, Ned Lamont is could be the next new fighting progressive in the Senate. Thanks to you, we now have the info we need to find supporters in those three districts with unprecedented accuracy, so we can help Connecticut voters send progressive champions to the Senate AND the House on November 7th.

Next, we're working to finish off our ID calls in Minnesota's 6th district to help put child safety advocate and progressive champion Patty Wetterling over the top.

Stay tuned this week for more info on the other districts we're targeting as we finish the race to 60,000!

Together, we can show that in our democracy the common sense of millions of Americans is still more powerful than the fearful lies of desperate politicians.

Click here to knock off some calls tonight, or to sign up for a 1 hour shift later in the week (if you're not signed up already).
