It very easily could have been hundreds in London this time............

The new terror threat presents Prime Minister Gordon Brown, a Scot who took office on Wednesday, with an enormous challenge and comes at a time of already heightened vigilance one week before the anniversary of the July 7 London transit attacks, which killed 52 people.

To echo Seashell, keep your dogs and cats inside if possible the next few days, keep collars with ID on all you can. 4th of July fireworks scare the s*t out of them. Dogs that never ever get out will find a way to get out, get lost, end up at the pound.

PS -- I agree that the 'terror' plot is a scary invention -- those idiots can't do anything else so they manufacture stuff to scare us to death to keep the REAL news out of the news.

    G'nite all.

And just how do you think we can disappear the corporations when they have the world in their claws?
    ---------------
...lol, my guess is, we can "disappear the corporations" literally...but not physically, by turning things around and getting world (corporations including) in our claws. Have no more details unfortunately..., history doesn't know even one precedent yet, it's going to be apparently "art of the masses created on a fly" and would mean..."you have power".

    The Past Is Priceless
The nearly 400-foot-tall scaffolding currently encasing Milwaukee's City Hall is costing taxpayers $11..5 million. That's before you pay the workers to go up it, and before the cost of the materials they are mortaring, soldering and sculpting into place. The terra cotta alone cost more than $14 million. The current projected price tag—factoring in materials, labor and design costs—is in the neighborhood of $76 million, but will probably increase, if recent (and distant) history is any guide.

there is no terrorist threat. a few wacko's with burning cars doesn't equal the end of time.

seems like a police matter to me.

meanwhile, the constitution is shredded, rights are denied, we finance and fight an illegal war, the treasury is looted, corporations reign over our media and message, people go toward the path of least resistance and eat the flavor of the day while bitterly condemning the the best among us.

the fact that the sun is shinning doesn't disqualify the fact that we're being caged in mind-thought battles.

Bush Provokes Britain's Terrorists With: "THIS IS AMATEUR TIME!" by Linda Milazzo | Jun 30 2007 - 11:35pm |  permalink
article tools: email | print | read more Linda Milazzo

With Great Britain under extreme alert after three car bomb attempts over the past two days, George W. Bush and his high level White House cohorts are doing their utmost to goad the terrorists to try harder next time. To be more "PROFESSIONAL" in their planning. To detonate bombs that are certain to cause harm.

By all accounts, the failed detonations of the two cars in London and the blazing SUV in Scotland weren't huge or impressive enough for Bush and his buddies. They didn't do enough damage. They didn't produce real harm. They weren't "PROFESSIONAL" enough to get America's attention.

The underlying message: to be worth your salt as terrorists, you'll have to do better next time! Another case of: "Bring it on!"

    from above article:

begin quote:  "In the six and a half years George W. Bush has been President, he and his Administration have never had a logical, well-reasoned, legitimate or successful response to any situation. He failed miserably after 9/11. He attacked Afghanistan, but failed to capture the orchestrators of the World Trade Center's demise. He unnecessarily invaded and occupied Iraq, destroyed its infrastructure, killed thousands of Americans, and caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis who survived Saddam, but succumbed to him. And he's made America the most reviled nation in the world.

Now once again, in the aftermath of a critical incident that requires a sound leadership response, George W. Bush makes another illogical and counter-productive choice. He faults the terrorists for failing, giving them impetus to improve their attacks.

Could he be more inept? Could he be more dangerous? Could he be more ill-suited for his job?

In lieu of goading for more successful terrorism, George Bush should contact the new Prime Minister to offer moral support. He should state publicly to the Brits that he's pleased no innocents were harmed. He should instruct potential attackers that all human life, including their own, is too precious to sacrifice in so heinous a way. In other words, George Bush should deliver an adult, reasoned, moral message - and not antagonize the frey.

But naturally Mr. Bush isn't doing anything of the sort.

Instead he's playing with his boat and his bicycle in Kennebunkport, looking into the eyes of Vladimir Putin to once again "know his heart," and childishly snubbing the new British Prime Minister for taking his Tony's job.

How long will our nation permit this grievous incompetent to remain in office? Every second he's there our nation and our world fall further apart.

    I. I. I. I. -- Invoke, Impeach, Indict and Imprison George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. It can't happen a moment too soon!"

You're absolutely right, I kid you not.  Really started to realize today that non of the "attacks" has been different from 9/11.  The scale is almost irrelevant.

I haven't heard the argument for some time; which poo-poos those who call this a mere police matter.  Yuo do feel it a police matter?

And drives home the resentment for having to put up with such a lying bastard for a pRedient to lead us.

Supreme Court Renames Self, Resegregates by Tony Hendra | Jun 30 2007 - 8:54pm |  permalink
article tools: email | print | read more Tony Hendra

There was a party atmosphere at the end of the Supreme Court's session yesterday. A jubilant rightwing majority, represented by Justice Alioto, made three dramatic announcements concerning the future makeup and direction of the court:

    A. Effective immediately the Supreme Court will be renamed the Supremacist Court of the United States. The vote to rename was 5-4.

    B. The first obligation of the Supremacist Court declared Justice Alito was resegregation. A colorblind Court should never elevate jurists to its bench simply by reason of their color. Since Justice Thomas had undeniably been nominated by George Bush Sr. because of his race: A. to fill the seat vacated by Thurgood Marshall and B. to dare the Democrats to reject him after their rejection of Robert Bork, he should be removed forthwith from the bench.

    C. In conclusion Justice Alito announced the award of the first ever Supremacist Court Medal of Honor. It will go to Senator Harry Reid for his indispensable services in returning the Court to its immemorial lily-white grandeur. "It's almost impossible to express our gratitude to Senator Reid" said Justice Alito, "for offering only the most token - no pun intended! - resistance to the confirmation of Chief Justice Roberts and myself. By the utterly pusillanimous approach you took to our nominations, Senator you more than any other person, are going to change the face of these United States for decades to come. Thankyou, Harry Reid, thank you. With enemies like you, who needs friends?"

It may surprise us here at home to read international polls showing most of the world thinks China's influence on the world is far more positive than America's influence on the world. But when you read a New York Times story like this, it becomes clear that such opinions are not just fabricated out of thin air - they come, at least in part, from our government and our business leaders telling the world that our major ideology is not respect for democracy or the protection of human rights, but simply "Greed is Good."

In a move as unexpected as another pornographic display of Ann Coulter's ugly mind, yesterday the White House again declared war on accountability. I was delighted, truth be told. For this administration to start behaving with any show of decency or legality at this late stage would merely be an unsettling, apocalyptic sign of a suddenly disordered universe.

Writing dual letters on behalf of the regal gangster whose unfettered, unimpeached tenure has the entire world baffled, the White House's chief pettifogger, Fred Fielding, "advised and informed" the insanely powerless chairmen of the House and Senate judiciary committees that "the White House will not be making any production in response to these subpoenas for documents" regarding the U.S. Attorneys' firings, which would only prove, he failed to add, the stinking corruption and criminality of the Bush administration.

White House hit with 'enforcement' threat over Congressional subpoenas Michael Roston
Published: Friday June 29, 2007 reddit_url=window.location.href reddit_title='White House hit with 'enforcement' threat over Congressional subpoenas'
    Print This  Email This

A day after the White House asserted its executive privilege in refusing to turn over documents subpoenaed as part of the investigation into the firing of 8 US Attorneys, Congressional investigators promised enforcement action in the weeks to come in a Friday letter to the White House.

"We were disappointed that we had to turn to these subpoenas in order to obtain information needed by the Committees to learn the truth about these firings and the erosion of independence at the Justice Department. We are even more disappointed now with yet further stonewalling," wrote Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) and Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), the chairmen of the Senate and House Judiciary Committees respectively. "Whether or not we have the benefit of the information we have directed you to provide by July 9, we will take the necessary steps to rule on your privilege claims and appropriately enforce our subpoenas backed by the full force of law."

JENA, La. - A white teenager allegedly beaten by black schoolmates in this small central Louisiana town told a jury Wednesday that he was hit from behind, knocked unconscious and never saw who attacked him.

Justin Barker, 17, testified that he had just come out of his high school gym with his girlfriend walking ahead of him on Dec. 4 when they turned to avoid a group of black students.

“I turned my back and somebody hit me, that’s all I remember,” Barker said.

Mysterious Clouds Creeping Out of the Arctic
By Dave Mosher, LiveScience Staff Writer
    posted: 28 June 2007 05:38 pm ET

A new NASA satellite has recorded the first detailed images from space of a mysterious type of cloud called “night-shining” or “noctilucent."

The clouds are on the move, brightening and creeping out of polar regions, and researchers don't know why.

"It is clear that these clouds are changing, a sign that a part of our atmosphere is changing and we do not understand how, why or what it means," said atmospheric scientists James Russell III of Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia. "These observations suggest a connection with global change in the lower atmosphere and could represent an early warning that our Earth environment is being changed."

The "Aeronomy of Ice in the Mesosphere” (AIM) satellite first imaged the noctilucent clouds May 25. People on the ground began seeing them June 6 over Northern Europe.

The clouds form 50 miles above the Earth’s surface, in an upper layer of the atmosphere called the mesosphere. The puffs of water vapor and crystals appear during summer months above the Northern Hemisphere's pole as well the Southern Hemisphere’s pole in summer.

AIM will record two complete cloud seasons over both regions, effectively documenting an entire life cycle of the shiny clouds for the first time. Researchers hope to figure out why noctilucent clouds form and how they might be related to global climate change.

    Good morning, everybody

Well, let's see if the html code busted the blog again.

Yes, racial antagonism is alive and well in America and it isn't a matter of people not knowing each other not getting along.

White kids aren't suspicious of black kids and black kids aren't suspicious of white kids because they hate the color of their skin; they're suspicious because that's what their momma and papa taught them to be.  Then when their acting suspicious is irksome, their prejudices are verified.

You know, if you beat on a dog because you suspect he might bite, he just might.

Suspicion is a dangerous thing.  Suspects are dangerous.  Ask any cop.  It's what he's been taught.

    Mornin' Reed.

Well, if they've already got a name for them and a program to track them, my guess would be that they're not entirely new.  But, it is news.  LOL

Btw, I don't think I've ever seen Paris Hilton, though I've been to Paris and visited a Hilton. I'm thinkin' that since European travel has gotten too expensive for most Americans and really complicated, what with needing passports you have to order many months ahead, any news about Paris brings a bit of the foreign exotic world into their homes.

People who've never been anywhere appreciate the world coming into their living rooms.  If some of the people are nasty in TV land, the stay-at-homes are doubly glad they don't have to go there themselves.

I said the other day that some people may think that FOX is an example of the liberal press because they put up with those rude people, which is what folks think "liberal" means.  Putting up with rude people that you wouldn't want in your living room!

I've been thinking about that ever since Jeb Bradley's mom bragged about how nice it was to have Carol Shea-Porter and her mom "visiting" in her living room.  Mrs. Bradley was making reference to seeing the campaign ad on TV.  It's made me think that we have to pay closer attention to how things look in people's living rooms.  Certainly the Pentagon is making sure that the war in Iraq doesn't come into people's living rooms.  I suspect even the images from the first Gulf War did not play well--not even the ones where the generals presented sort of a slide show of building being blown up.

Actually, now that I think of it, perhaps those images set the predicate for why the images of the burning and collapsing towers led to the conclusion that iraq was taking revenge--that the towers were payback for what we'd done to Iraq in the Gulf War.  Maybe that's why the link is so hard to break.  People saw it with their own eyes--the American military blowing up buildings with missiles and then the terrorists blowing up ours.  The only difference is that the Pentagon assured us those were military installations and we know that the towers were filled with innocent civilians.

How do we correct what people saw with their own eyes?

As far as training goes, I think the Carol for Congress videos should be included in any agenda.  I think it's the most persuasive political ad I've ever seen and it didn't cause any fear.

When I compare it to the terribly ads Trippi produced for the governor where he was standing in front of some cow pasture or something, I think the comparison would be instructive.  I liked what Howard was saying but having him talk about politics while standing in a field made it look fake.  And, now that I think about it, Richardson, who's doing really poorly in the polls up here in NH had one of those walk-along-a-stone-wall ads, too.  The verbiage was fine but because it was inconsistent with the background, it came off as fake.

If my hypothesis is correct, then shots of Hillary and Obama in the round aren't going to go over well either.  Even the people who go to these events aren't going to be impressed because they know that the performance is canned.

    Good morning Monica,

Yes, these clouds have been documented back into the 1800's...the news is that a century ago the clouds were confined to latitudes above 50 degrees. You had to go to places like Scandinavia to see them. Recently they have been sighted as far south as Colorado. I think a change in our environment is the news but if it doesn't serve the CM needs, it isn't "news".

I'd take it a step further and say how do we correct what people think they saw with their own eyes? We know how low Faux News will stoop to try and brainwash...the others aren't far behind imo.

    In need of coffee...

How many americans now believe that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq?

How did they become convinced on that fact?  How many of them saw the President looking for them in the Oval Office and suddenly realized it was all a joke?

When did they do that schtick?

    *********************************************************

Just look at how this matter was mis-handled, in retrospect.....

Kerry: WMD 'Joke' No Laughing Matter
By David R. Guarino and Noelle Straub
        The Boston Herald

        Friday 26 March 2004

In the hypercharged race for president, apparently even the jokes aren't funny anymore.

Sen. John F. Kerry last night criticized President Bush for poking fun at his administration's inability to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq during a media dinner known for its biting humor.

"If George Bush thinks his deceptive rationale for going to war is a laughing matter, then he's even more out of touch than we thought," Kerry said in a statement issued to the press.

The statement showcased just how intense the general election campaign has already become.

At Wednesday's annual dinner with television and radio journalists, Bush showed a photo of himself looking under furniture in the Oval Office and joked, "Those weapons of mass destruction have got to be somewhere."

Kerry called that a "cavalier attitude."

The Bush campaign wouldn't comment on the new charges.

The joke flap came as Kerry gathered in Washington with top Democrats, led by former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean and former Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter, for a "unity" event meant to showcase the party's strength against Bush this fall.

Dean, endorsing Kerry after their primary feud, urged the party to rally behind its new standard-bearer.

"We had a tough campaign here," Dean said at a George Washington University rally, noting that they once focused "on things that divide us. Now we are going to talk about the things that we have in common."

Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe said the party, with $25 million and no debt, is ready to take on Bush.

"The tools are in place," McAuliffe said. "Now we need to make sure to use these tools to make sure that John Kerry is elected president."

    ********************************************************************************************

Kerry called a "cavalier attitude" !!!!!!!!!!!

and Dean is quoted on strategy while McAuliffe talks about "tools" that aren't.

    Jeeze louise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kerry issued a statement which starts off with "George Bush thinks"!!!!!

Yes, I know that phrase is preceded by that little word "if" but you'd be suprised how many people don't "get" the hypothetical and how many more don't hear the first word of a sentence because of a hearing/attention problem.

How can you trust someone who says the opposite of what he probably means?

    Jeeeeeze Louise!!!!!!

Reed, I'm thinking we need to work smarter.  It's my guess that the commercial media aren't nearly as clever as we give them credit for.

The Democratic response to the use of the oval office to make sport of looking for weapons of mass destruction was really stupid.

What they should have done was express outrage that the oval office was used so frivolously.  And lacking in respect.  And right out there in public!

That, I think is something the viewers would have understood.  But to respond with words like "cavalier" and "standard bearer"!!!!

"If George Bush thinks his deceptive rationale for going to war is a laughing matter, then he's even more out of touch than we thought," Kerry said in a statement issued to the press.

Before I do something else, I just want to make the point that the word "standard" should be banished from our political discourse.  Everybody who knows anything about plumbing, knows that "American Standard" is the ubiquitous brand of plumbing fixtures and anybody who's ever tried to fix a dripping faucet knows that there are NO plumbing standards in the United States.  That's why you can never find parts unless you first take the thing apart and then trot 'round to a half dozen hardware and plumbing supply places to find what might fit.

BTW, the new plumbing standards calling for low volume toilets are driving people crazy.  They don't work.  In the new "green" library they just opened in Portsmouth they can't use the toilets on the second floor because there's not enough water to push the crap along and the lines keep getting clogged.  We installed a low flow that has the capacity to empty the tank, if you hold the handle and let the bowl fill twice.  That clears it, but that means using the same amount of water as before and taking more time to hold the handle down and see if it's done the job or the toilet needs to be scrubbed again.

Imagine trying to explain that to everyone that needs to use a public toilet.

Ok, I'm sorry, that's not an edifying topic for a Sunday morning.

    Monica,

There is a standard now-a-days in Washington, sub-standard and low flow also. Only a hand full get it right the first time, we shouldn't have to hold the handle down after the message that was sent in '06 but that's what's happening. We need more efficient older models like Leahy...who by the way is on Meet the Press at 9 AM this morning...it's too bad we can't replace inefficient newly installed models 'till their 6 year warranty is up.

Lots to do on this most beautiful today...bbl
