Vote Ines Garcia-Keim for Hudson County Freeholder tomorrow
Linked to groups: Hudson DFA
Hi all,
I know it's been ages since you've heard from me, and technically I'm still on leave-of-absence from DFA while I complete my graduate degree, but I wanted to reach out to let you know about a strong chance we have tomorrow of getting a very special, ultra-qualified candidate elected to Hudson County's Board of Chosen Freeholders.
If you live in Hudson County's 5th District, which consists mainly of Hoboken and parts of Jersey City Heights, please go to the polls tomorrow and vote for Ines Garcia-Keim for Freeholder. When I first moved to Hudson County in 2001, Ines was one of the very first people I met from the political scene here, and she was one of the key people who inspired me to get involved. He has worked tirelessly for this community for decades, and there are truly few people out there as deserving of holding public office as she is. She has honestly done 20 times more as a private citizen for the improvement of our community than many elected officials in this area have done in their entire careers. I urge you to vote for her tomorrow and tell your friends.
If you can volunteer at all tomorrow, Ines' campaign would greatly appreciate the help, for anything from field work to challenging at the polls. If you can help, please call 201-792-7097.

Support Councilman Fulop's Run to Stop Child Abuse
Linked to groups: Hudson DFA
Hi all,Sorry I've been so out of touch lately. School and work have got me
crazed and way out of the loop. However, I wanted to let you know
that in case you hadn't heard, Jersey City Councilman and DFA ally
Steven Fulop is running in the NYC Marathon this weekend and doing it
to raise money for the Hudson County Child Abuse Prevention Center.
I've made a pledge and encourage all Hudson DFA members to do so as
well, whatever you can afford.
You can do it through his Web site at www.stevenfulop.com.
Things are supposed to slow down for me a bit in January, so I promise
I'll be back in the fight soon. In the meantime, do what you know we
all gotta do and help elect Sen. Menendez next Tuesday.
Onward,
Jake

Dear friends,Summer is upon is, and with it comes two fun and exciting events next week. First off, join us the night of Thursday June 22 at a fund-raising bash for Linda Stender, who's aiming to unseat the repulsive Rep. Mike Ferguson in November. I am a co-host of this event, so please come out and support my and DFA's effort to help Linda pick up a seat for the Dems! Follow this link for more details -- click on the June 22 event: www.lindastenderforcongress.com/...

Hope to see you at one or both of these important events. They're going to be a good time!

Day of Action for Ron Rice Jr./June Hudson DFA Meetup
Linked to groups: Hudson DFA
Dear Member,This Tuesday, we have a special opportunity to help cement the change that began in Newark when voters elected Cory Booker mayor last month. Ron Rice Jr., one of Booker's running mates and a founding and prominent member of Essex County DFA, is in a runoff election Tuesday, June 13. While Ron was the top vote-getter in the May City Council election, the four-way race left no one with more than 50% of the vote, forcing a runoff.
Ron has won the national DFA "A-List" endorsement and has the support of DFA groups around the state. It's time for us to show the world exactly what that means. A team of Hudson DFA members are swarming Newark Tuesday to help get out Ron's vote, and we need your help. It's always tougher to get people out to vote a second time around, especially with so many elections that have been clustered together. Showing up to knock on doors, make calls and work the streets is vital to ensuring Ron's victory, which would not only give Booker a friendly council to work with, but would give a foothold to one of the rising stars of New Jersey's progressive movement, with a vision and a plan.
If you can make it for the whole day or just pop in after work until the polls close, your effort will make a difference. Those who go should report to Rice Jr. headquarters at 800 S. 18th Street. If you can't find it or have questions, call me at 201-978-8977, or go to www.ron-rice.com.
The next day will be the June Democracy for America Hudson County Meetup, at which we'll debrief on the Vas and Rice Jr. campaigns and plan for how to help Linda Stender in the 7th Dist. Congressional race. The meetup will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 14. To RSVP for the Rice Jr. Day of Action, please e-mail me with when you can be there. You can RSVP for the Wednesday meetup at:

Thanks for All Your Hard Work
Linked to groups: Team Vas
Dear Team Vas,Well, we knew it was an uphill battle from the start. For a while it was really looking like things were breaking our way, but in the end, the strength of the state Democratic establishment, the long-standing political machinery in northern Hudson County pulling out votes for Sires at an unmatchable rate, the challenges in getting a majority of Hudson County residents to accept a non-Hudson resident to represent them, and numerous other factors beyond our control carried the day for the other side.
We put up a good fight though, and did make some headway in cracking the Hudson County machine. I very much appreciate the efforts of each and every one of you who contributed in any way to helping our candidate, and Vas and his campaign staff thank you as well.
I'll be closing down this group soon, so if you haven't already, please go sign up for the Hudson DFA group to stay apprised of our activities and see/make input on what our next project will be.
Sincerely,
Jake Stuiver
Vote Joe Vas in the June 6 Primary -- A Progressive Alternative to Business as Usual
Linked to groups: Hudson DFA
If you live in New Jersey's 13th Congressional District, please remember to get out and vote for Joe Vas tomorrow. Vas is a progressive Democrat who will really stand up to Bush and send real leadership to the Democrats in Washington. He will also send an important message to Hudson County machine politicians, that our community demands its congressional seat be filled by someone who really represents the people of Hudson County, not a stuffed shirt who's bought and paid for by the special interests. Please help take this major step toward reinvigorating the Democratic Party by sending a real leader and a fighter to Washington. Whoever wins this primary will surely win the November election, so please come out tomorrow and let your voice be heard!
The Final Stretch -- When/Where Can You Help?
Linked to groups: Team Vas
Hi all,We are in the final stretch of the campaign. Things are looking good -- our polls still have us ahead, and I've been hearing that they're getting nervous on the other side.
So, we need to determine who's going to be doing what on Election Day and the days leading up to it. We need plenty of street workers on Election Day, and there's money available for Election Day workers to be paid, so if there's any way you can get that day off and spend it somewhere in Hudson County working for the Vas campaign, you'll be making a big difference.
We also need canvassers for tomorrow through Monday. Please contact me at jstuiver@gmail.com ASAP and let me know if/how/when/where you can help.
We can definitely win this!
Keep it up,
Jake
