The Breast Cancer Fund is a national, not-for-profit, San Francisco-basedorganization seeking a full-time Program Manager to help lead a dynamic and
vibrant women's health/environmental health organization. The Program
Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing cutting-edge
program initiatives, and public education and corporate accountability
campaigns that further the Breast Cancer Fund's mission to identify and
eliminate the environmental causes of breast cancer.
Specifically, this individual will work with other national coalition
members to provide strategic leadership to the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics,
which is housed at Breast Cancer Fund. She or he will supervise the
Education and Engagement Coordinator and oversee the Strong Voices
Leadership Development Program, a national network of breast cancer
survivors - and others touched by breast cancer - that serve as spokespeople
on behalf of breast cancer prevention and the work of the Breast Cancer
Fund. The Program Manager will also be responsible for coordinating
Internet activism campaigns and managing BCF's online "Action Center."
Today, one in seven women will develop breast cancer during their lifetime.
As many as half of all breast cancers occur in women who have no known risk
factors and less than one out of every 10 cases occurs in women born with a
genetic predisposition for the disease. Our vision is to end the breast
cancer epidemic by creating legislative, scientific, and market-based and
consumer change through advocacy and organizing. The Program Manager reports
to the Director of Program and Policy.
Qualifications: Superb written and verbal communication skills, flexible,
highly organized, with minimum 5-10 years experience managing non-profit
program and policy initiatives. Experience conducting Internet activism and
engagement activities. Experienced public speaker, with ability to
coordinate training programs, organize events and community forums. Working
knowledge of breast cancer, women's health, and/or environmental
health/environmental justice preferred. Grant-writing skills also desired.
Sense of humor and ability to work well with others a must! Experience
working on national market-based/corporate accountability campaigns and/or
public education and awareness campaigns preferred. Travel required outside
the Bay Area. Salary: $46,000 - $50,000 DOE, plus vacation, medical and
dental benefits.
Breast Cancer Fund is an equal opportunity employer.
