DFH Elects New Executive Steering Committee

Democracy For Houston elected its 2008 Executive Steering Committee (DFH-ESC) Wednesday, May 7th at the monthly meeting.
Reelected to serve again, the ESC includes three of the Co-Founders of DFH - Murvin Auzeene, Leah Burris and Phillip McNutt. Murvin serves as the DFH PAC's Treasurer and Leah is the Assistant Treasurer. In addition, after taking a year hiatus from the DFH-ESC, Abner Brown returns to serve again. Rounding out the membership of the committee and serving his first term on the ESC is Tom Rowan.
DFH is busy planning its next project: County Wide Grassroots Training for Precinct Chairs, Precinct Captains and Precinct Activists. This training is scheduled for Saturday, July 26th. More details will follow

Democracy For Houston will host its annual election of the DFH Executive Steering Committee (DFH ESC) on Wednesday, May 7th at 7:00 p.m. Please join DFH at the HCDP office - 1445 N. Loop W., Suite 110, Houston, 77008.
ALL DFH folks are encouraged to attend and participate in the selection of the new slate of Steering Committee members. REMINDER: You must be a dues paying member of DFH to vote for or serve on the DFH ESC. Please go to the DFH website:

and pay your annual dues online! Or, you can update your paid membership at the meeting on May 7th.
We will be discussing plans for the upcoming state convention and plans for a county wide training for Precinct Chairs, Precinct Captains and Precinct Activists slated for Saturday, July 26th.

Democracy For Houston Endorses OBAMA With 95% Vote

Democracy For Houston held its first official endorsement meeting last night (Wednesday, Feb. 13th.)
DFH considered candidates in races spanning local Precinct Chairs to U.S. President. In order to gain an endorsement from DFH, a candidate must receive atleast 75% of the vote from the eligible sustaining members present.
Senator Barack Obama received 95% of the vote for President.

DFH MONTHLY MEETING MOVED TO FEB. 13

DFH will be hosting a Candidate Endorsement meeting on Wednesday, February 13, at 7:00 p.m. There will not be a meeting on Wednesday, February 6th.
Please be sure to RSVP on DFA-Link for attendance to the Candidate Endorsement Meeting. All dues paying members in good standing are urged to attend and cast your votes!!!
In addition, any members that wish to serve on the DFH Executive Steering Committee should plan to announce their candidacies at this meeting. The DFH-ESC elections will be held at the regular March Linkup Meeting on Wednesday, March 5th.
DFH CONSIDERS ENDORSEMENT POLICY Jan. 16, 2008

In following the lead of our national organization (DFA) and our state organization (DFT), Democracy For Houston will have a SPECIAL MEETING to consider adoption of an ENDORSEMENT POLICY ( see DFH-ESC recommended policy below ) on Wednesday, January 16th at 7:00 p.m. The SPECIAL MEETING of DFH to consider this policy will be held at the Harris County Democratic Party Headquarters, 1445 N. Loop W., Suite 110, Houston, Texas 77008.
All DFH members are encouraged to attend. Please keep in mind that you MUST be a current dues paying member of DFH in order to vote on this proposed addition to the DFH Constitution. Membership dues are $15 for students, $20 for individuals and $30 for couples.
