It's about Knowledge, Not Experience
There is a false argument being peddled by supporters of the McCain-Palin ticket lately; one that equates the experience of Sarah Palin, the hockey mom and former mayor of Wasilla, AK (population 7,500), with that of Barack Obama, the former state senator and twelve-year professor of constitutional law.
What the pundits and newscasters seem to miss is the obvious: that this isn't about experience, but about knowledge. Anyone who has read or viewed any in-depth interview with Barack Obama will readily admit that the man knows his stuff. Here are links to just a couple of such interviews on foreign policy. Judge for yourself.

Please
forward this to as many people as you can, and get them to donate as

Col. Ann Wright Book Signing
Linked to groups: Democracy for America - Orange County
From Military Families Speak Out - News of two important events:
Ann Wright is making two stops in the area. Col. (ret.) Wright bravely resigned her position with the state department to protest the war. She will be here in person at two venues: Barnes and Noble Bookstore in Orange across from the Main Place at 7 pm on Wed. May 28, with a welcome reception at the Traffic Circle at 5:30 first, at at Los Altos United Methodist Church in Long Beach at 7 pm on May 30 on Willlow St. MFSO has been one of the major planners, and was able to get the bookings, so let’s show up in big numbers to show our support. Please pass this on to all your contacts!
Memorial Day is right around the corner and MFSO is busy planning the second annual luminaria event along the beach in Bluff Park in Long Beach. We will have a couple of thousand sand candles for several blocks. MFSO, VFP and IVAW adopted a block last year and we had so much media! Please mark your calendar and join us. Bring your own sign and we will have our banner and literature. It is something to see and shows how the Long Beach peace community cares about our troops and honors the fallen while reminding the community that we must consider the true cost of war and bring our troops home now. Precinct Training Event

Training about PrecinctCaptains.org
August 8, 6:00 pm, IAMAW Union Hall
5402 Bolsa Ave., Huntington Beach, CA
In the past, Precinct Work was campaign oriented not Democrat oriented. That meant that every campaign pretty much targeted the same voters in the same precincts and ignored everyone else. So the "lucky voter" got targeted for phone calls, mailings, and people pounding on his door. He might have been flattered at first, but that faded by election day.
Making the Ground Game Sane Again
The secret to success is to put together one field campaign for all Democrats: Voter Registration, Voter Contact, and Get Out The Vote. Add to that year round constituent service by a friendly neighbor and you make voting personal.
We have stepped forward into the 21st Century using web based tools to manage our precinct lists and contact information. How many times have you walked a precinct, returned your walking list with carefully prepared notes, only to have the information ignored because there was no one to follow up? How many voters wanted to volunteer, or just get a yard sign, and no one called them back? How many of them didn't bother to vote as a result?
With the precinct management tools from PrecinctCaptains.org, you create your own lists from the county database, target specific voter characteristics, follow up with voters, and keep the database up to date with current and correct information. We can show you how easy it is to manage your precinct, or just your street.
Bring your laptop with wireless internet to our training event on August 8 and we will have you up and running in no time.
You Can Make the Difference
As a precinct activist you'll have access to a web-based database of registered voters in your precinct/neighborhood. It makes it easy to create walking lists and keep up to date on Democrats in your neighborhood. You can take on a whole precinct, an apartment block, or just a couple of streets.
Ø Make personal contact with the voters on your list. Talk to them about their concerns and what issues are important to them. Most important, keep in touch on a personal level.
Ø Re-register Democrats for permanent vote-by-mail ballots. Re-register Decline-to-State voters and recovering Republicans. Register people who move into your neighborhood and neighbors who turn 18.
Ø Invite neighbors to Democratic Clubs, DFA, PDA, Move-On, or local progressive events.
Ø Keep track of your precinct neighbors on election day and get out the vote. They will do it for you!
