DFA 1.0 on the "Recommended Blog Posts"
WE who understand the notion of community sans HQ with hope of a soap box to stand on, or anything else come from attempts at individual expression must, or can, find a nitch here. It is a matter of continuity, if WE will. Why should WE?
Fleetwood Mac - Safe Harbour
Caetano Veloso & Gilberto Gil - Wait Until Tomorrow
I must note, this tune is very dud (IE mprov*ish). 't's good.
just asked about you on the current front page post - long time no hear, I was thinking of sending Sheriff Chuck.
Just an example of the community here formed in DFA 1.0 and 2.0., witholding comment on 3.0 and beyond.
Sly and the Family Stone - It's a Family Affair
It's a family affair, it's a family affair
It's a family affair, it's a family affair
One child grows up to be
Somebody that just loves to learn
And another child grows up to be
Somebody you'd just love to burn
Mom loves the both of them
You see it's in the blood
Both kids are good to Mom
'Blood's thicker than mud'
It's a family affair, it's a family affair
Newlywed a year ago
But you're still checking each other out
Nobody wants to blow
Nobody wants to be left out
You can't leave, 'cause your heart is there
But you can't stay, 'cause you been somewhere else!
You can't cry, 'cause you'll look broke down
But you're cryin' anyway 'cause you're all broke down!
It's a family affair
It's a family affair

squashed said, July 6, 2008 @ 10:13 amThis is really one of those “I am bored” exercise. I am taking apart few rhythm and blues. CHeck out The Ramsey Lewis Trio, they have a couple fun tracks. (one fo them is used in US3, Cantaloop Island I think)
was watching these before making the list
Cannonball Adderley - Jive Samba - 1963
As far as the topic goes, well DFA 1.0 was anything goes. Of course, it was better than that. Far better than I know, as I was an observer who was encouraged.
I don't want to have anyone wax remorseful for the "good ol' days," because that is so nowhere, man. Nowhere for anyone to go. Going back isn't an option.
Folks can addapt, and move forward. 'at's an option.
True, it'll never be what 1.0 was because that was the heydey of the campaign, and 2.0 brought to fruition several blog events - March for Women's Lives delegation, Dfest 1, quilts, cookbook... Actually, 1.0 and 2.0 were not altogether 'anything goes', there were rare instances of time-outs and rarer post deletions. I don't think it's that we'uns are looking for exactly what was, we've adapted time and again to changes here. If there's any waxing, IMO, it's for the style of moderating found in 1.0 and 2.0.
Why should we stay, because there is much work to do and much information to share.
'xactly. converse about what is. You thinking of doing any campaign work this round? I'm hoping to get involved in the Dan Seals Il-10th campaign when back in Chitown. Time to turn the 10th blue!
I'm at the point in time where I am busy at work, home, and a second/weekend job, that I don't know ...
gotcha, between moving, Dfest, and getting married, I'm gonna have to figure out time slots, lol. How's about lunch one o' these days, let me know a time and place.
Saw the Gay Parade took place awhile ago. Thought I caught a glips of you in heels, but I may have been mistaken ;-) Hope you all raised good money$$$
the Chicago Parade? cool - I missed all the coverage this year. Didn't raise as much this year as last as getting pledges was sidetracked by travels... still did reasonably though. Thankful for your contribution ♥, btw. We had turquoise t-shirts again, and one of Rene's friends walked w/us again (best buns in the parade :). My older sister was sick and couldn't make it, but my neice joined us!
I hope he showed 'em off in chaps! Damn, sorry I missed that. Doh, there must be video? Sure...must be LOL
pic from last year, but the shoes are the same... me in the middle, good place for the middle sister :-)

Stevie Wonder - Living For The City
http://hypem.com/track/588365/Stevie+Wonder-Living+For+The+City
A boy is born in hard time mississippi
Surrounded by four walls that aint so pretty
His parents give him love and affection
To keep him strong moving in the right direction
Living just enough, just enough for the city...ee ha!
His father works some days for fourteen hours
And you can bet he barely makes a dollar
His mother goes to scrub the floors for many
And youd best believe she hardly gets a penny
Living just enough, just enough for the city... yeah!
His sisters black but she is shonuff pretty
Her skirt is short but lord her legs are sturdy
To walk to school shes got to get up early
Her clothes are old but never are they dirty
Living just enough, just enough for the city...um hum
Her brothers smart hes got more sense than many
His patiences long but soon he wont have any
To find a job is like a haystack needle
Cause where he lives they dont use colored people
Living just enough, just enough for the city...
Living just enough...
For the city... ooh, ooh
(repeat several times)
His hair is long, his feet are hard and gritty
He spends his life walking the streets of new york city
Hes almost dead from breathing in air pollution
He tried to vote but to him theres no solution
Living just enough, just enough for the city...
Yeah, yeah, yeah!
I hope you hear inside my voice of sorrow
And that it motivates you to make a better tomorrow
This place is cruel no where could be much colder
If we dont change the world will soon be over
Living just enough, stop giving just enough for the city!!!!
lol, silly. agr.#2 ;)
abc coverage on file...

watching to see... the parade got delayed bigtime though by someone falling off a float and breaking a leg. Had to stand around for over 45 mins. ~ egads, my feet hurt after that and we had 4/5 of the distance to go yet. Recovery was quick, day or two of tender toesies and tired legs...
I got to talk w/ Sec. of State Jesse White before the parade.
...cool just saw Deb Shore, a DFA'er
the two of us spoke about just that - people falling from a moving float and injuring themselves, or worse.
It's been great fun having a seondary thread going. Hope others will join later and get back on topic, for pete's sake! :-D See ya next week, mebbe.
lol, see ya if you give me a place/time...
