DFA Endorses Marc Elrich - with your help we can win

Canvassing for Marc Elrich's campaign

The power of committed people willing to work for change can be more powerful than the money of special intersests lined up against us. My campaign is in the home stretch, heading toward the Sept. 12 primary. We have a strong campaign and an effective message - people in Montgomery don't want the County run according to the wishes of the developers.

I need your help to come across the finish line. We're canvassing 7 days a week: late afternoon/early evening during the week, and all day on the weekends. We need more people to join in canvassing and lit dropping.

We know that the developers are going to spend even more on this election than they did on the last one when they funded the End Gridlock candidates to the tune of $1.3 million. We're never going to be able to send out the same number of mailings as the pro-developer candidates will. But we can get our message out if you'll help with lit drops and, of course, by making a contribution.

I need your help. I'm asking for all of you who want progressive voices to be heard, to give me a hand. I'm endorsed by PDA, DFA-MC, the Sierra Club, the Teachers Union, and many others. Endorsements are great, but it's your help that will make a difference on election day.

Canvassers Needed for the Marc Elrich Campaign

Written by: marc elrich on Aug 5, 2006 10:13 PM EDT

Less than 6 weeks til the election and the only way to counter act the big money of the County's developers is if progressives are ready and willing to put shoe leather on the street. We need help canvassing, weekdays during the afternoon and early evening and on the weekends.

We need to put as many feet on the street as possible, but if people would take on the precincts that they live in, at a minimum, we could have a powerful effect on the election.

DFAers live throughout the County. We have precinct lists and walking maps. We can get you to the doors of Democrats who want to and who will vote in the September primary. Your help in reaching them is critical because you can bet the developer funded candidates will be ready to do 6 or 7 mailings, robo calls and more.

If we're going to make a difference, we have to work. There's no easy way to change the politics of the County. I need your help.

Please contact my campaign and find out what you can do. We also have yard signs with the now famous "no developer influence" logo.
Put one in your front yard and let your neighbors know you care.

Campaign kick-off Event Saturday July 8, 3-5PM

Written by: marc elrich on Jun 29, 2006 11:19 AM EDT

Friends, Supports and Progressives,

I want to invite everyone to my campaign kick-off event on Saturday July 8th, from 3 to 5, at McGinty's Irish Pub in downtown Silver Spring. Snacks and libations and good political talk will be on the menu. We're hoping to generate a large turnout and everyone is welcome.

Despite the dark cloud in Washington that hangs over the White House, people are stirring. There are real progressives running in Maryland. We have the opportunity to change politics, and that starts with redirecting the Democratic Party, in this Fall's election. I want and need your support and hope that you'll come out and join the crowd next Saturday.

Thanks for everything you do to help make a difference,
Marc

Campaign Plans for this weekend - got some free time?

Written by: marc elrich on Apr 21, 2006 5:54 PM EDT

Lots happening this weekend. If you can volunteer some time on either or both days, that would be wonderful - and a huge help. Send me an email so I can arrange for someone to contact you with further details.
Thanks in advance,
Marc

Saturday
Three activities are planned for Saturday.

First, the Co-op's 25th anniversary is also Earth Day. I was one of the founding members of the Coop and I'll be joining them for a celebration.

Second. from 11:30 to 1 I'm going to help in the Sligo Creek Cleanup as part of Earth Day. Come join me in helping our neighbors in their efforts to restore Sligo Creek.

Third, from 1 to about 3, we're going to canvass a nearby neighborhood - knocking on doors and passing out literature.

Sunday
First, Takoma Park Farmer's Market. starting at 10 in Old Town Takoma. It's a great place to spend from 10-1 handing out flyers as people come to the market (and you can get some good shopping done as well.

Second, International Day of the Book along Howard Ave. and Antique Row is on Sunday from 12 to 5 in Kensington. It's a great place to wander through crowds and pass out literature.

Third, also on Sunday from 12 on, I'm going to go door to door in one of the Kensington precincts. Having a couple of volunteers to help with the Sunday door knocking would be great. I'm going to spend some time at both the Book event and in the neighborhood and I'd love company.
