The War Tapes - Post Movie Thoughts - Pasadena

Written by: Patrick Briggs on Feb 24, 2007 2:15 AM EST

Hey there!

Well fortunately we didn't have EVERYBODY that signed up (our living room was getting close to capacity with the 16 or so that came).

The movie provoked a lot of good discussion about what our military men and women are dealing with. The movie itself did a very good job of giving the perception of several soldiers about the war in Iraq.

We heard it, felt it, and saw it (each had a camera to help with the footage).

There were troubling parts of the movie beyond the obvious ugliness of war. Many soldiers were still supportive of Bush and this war for one. At the same time, you could see that the disconnect between what they were told and what the reality is - it was affecting them all.

Thanks for coming if you made it. If you didn't, and are interested in us doing another showing here, please feel free to email me at pbriggs(at)greeneggsandham.org . If we can get 5 or 6, we'll do another one. If you are just interested in any other events Maddie and I might do (a protest against the war in our neighborhood for instance), please email me and I'll add you to our neighborhood list.

Find a way to bring your passion and talent to work in your community to bring about change. We are not powerless in the face of the social injustice and war those in authority continue to do in our name.

Let's help each other one step at a time.

Regards,

Patrick Briggs
