Robert Greenwald's Iraq for Sale
Linked to groups: Democracy for Maryland
Hi everyone,As many of you know, Robert Greenwald's Iraq for Sale, a documentary about Haliburton and other war profiteers, is being released in October. Several DFA members around the state will be showing the film in their homes or at a local venue during the week of Oct 8- 14th.
Robert Greenwald takes you inside the lives of soldiers, truck drivers, widows and children who have been changed forever as a result of profiteering in the reconstruction of Iraq. The film uncovers the connections between private corporations making a killing in Iraq and the decision makers who let it happen.
Please take a moment and sign up for an event near you.

Know someone who is frustrated by the war and this administration? -- consider bringing that friend, neighbor or even coworker. The movie will be accompanied by discusion and action items provided by Robert Greenwald, Brave New Films and DFA.
Thanks,
Sharon

Al Wynn, Donna Edwards, and George McDermott - candidates for Congress confirmed
Sponsor: PeaceAction Montgomery
Cosponsor: Montgomery County Progressive Alliance.
=========================================
Congressional candidates in District 4 will debate foreign policy, with special reference to the Middle East. Find out what the candidates think about these issues and what they are willing to work for. A big crowd should impress upon the candidates the importance that we citizens place upon these issues. Plus, there will be an opportunity for questions from the audience.
District 4 is currently represented by Rep. Al Wynn. It covers parts of Montgomery and Prince George's counties.
Democracy for Montgomery County recently endorsed Donna Edwards in her race against Al Wynn. She is mounting an impressive challenge to an entrenched incumbent who has consistently voted for the war and for continued appropriations for the war. (To read more about Donna go to donnaedwardsforcongress.com/... )
Even if you do not live in District 4, please feel free to join us for this unique event where you can view all three candidates debating foreign policy issues.

ATT.net is blocking DFALink emails

Just sent out a meassage to my group and found it bounced by all the AT&T addresses, so it looks like they have set up a block. Can you check into getting that fixed? Thanks...this emailing stuff gets to be a pain, I'm sure...I appreciate you looking into this. :)

'Endorsement' disputed
Linked to groups: Democracy for Maryland
The race for Paula Hollinger's State Senate seat gets interesting as two candidates, Rifkin and Zirkin vie for Ben Cardin's endorsement.http://tinyurl.com/hewvb
I don't know much about this race but am curious about who will gain this seat.
DFAList Endorsements
Linked to groups: Democracy for Montgomery County
Hi everyone,As you may have noticed, DFALink now has a "campaigns" section where candidates (once they have applied for a DFAList endorsement) can describe themselves and their campaigns. DFA activists can show their support for any campaign listed, thus helping their favorite candidates receive consideration for the endorsement from DFA.
Please take a moment to look through the Maryland candidates on DFALink and give your written support or volunteer for campaigns that you wish to support. (You can do that by searching candidates by state)
IMPORTANT
==========
Also, if there is a socially progressive, fiscally responsible candidate that is not listed that you think should be, please contact that candidate/campaign and have them apply for a DFAList endorsement and have them fill out a campaign form online on DFALink. DFA is relying on the grassroots to direct them toward candidates worthy of their endorsement.
DFMC will be also starting an endorsement process very soon and we will be drawing those endorsements from candidates that have listed their campaigns on DFALink. DFMC members who have been attending meetings throughout the year will receive an email questionaire/ballot. Please be sure that I have a current email address so that you'll receive a ballot.
Thanks for your time and enthusiasm. 2006 is turning out to be a HUGE election year in Maryland!

June 7th DFMC Meeting -- All-County
Linked to groups: Democracy for Montgomery County
Annapolis Wrap-Up and 2006 MD House of Delegates and Senate ElectionsWe are pleased to announce that House Majority Leader Kumar Barve (D17) and Delegate Jane Lawton (D18) will be speaking to the group about the 2006 Session and about the upcoming elections and how these elections will affect the 2007 legislative session.
Wednesday June 7th at 7PM
Twinbrook Library in Rockville
Light refreshments will be provided.
Please RSVP at www.dfalink.com/event.php?id=857...
We hope you can all attend. Keeping a veto-proof majority in the Maryland General Assembly is vital in case Bob Ehrlich is re-elected. There are several seats across the state that are in danger of being lost due to being open seats and changes within those districts.
