how about Howard Dean as DFA chair?

Howard Dean is stepping down as chair of the DNC:

Why not ask him to return to heading DFA?

Let's be honest, DFA has not exactly been a high-profile organization since his departure; we could use his statureand leadership again.

Obviously, I would prefer he continue the work he's done to implement the 50-state strategy with the DNC, but if that is not going to happen why not ask him to come back to the organization that is named for him, after all?

I was pretty disappointed that DFA did not endorse during the presidential primary. I had advocated that DFA offer to endorse Obama in return for a promise of action on an issue of importance, since Obama had won out against Clinton by about two-to-one in the poll of DFA members. But that didn't happen. DFA stayed out of the race, and so lost the opportunity to use it to promote our issues.

Then in the general DFA put together an ad attacking McCain for his temperament since his years of confinement in Vietnam. In essence, that ad was a "Swift Boat"-style attack, which is not something I think we can be proud of. I'm actually grateful it disapppeared without much of an impact.

The ad can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yp39wqOjAtE&feature=channel_page

I think DFA could use Howard's leadership again if it's going to be force in American politics.
