DFA backs Jon Ossoff in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District
Today, Democracy for America (DFA) endorsed Jon Ossoff in the special election to replace Tom Price in representing Georgia’s 6th Congressional District. Democracy for America has 31,078 members in the state of Georgia and one million members nationwide.
Ossoff is DFA’s first congressional endorsement following the 2016 general election and one of the first opportunities to show the national electoral reach of the rapidly growing grassroots resistance movement that’s standing up to Donald Trump’s agenda of hate, division, and giveaways to the super rich.
DFA Chair Jim Dean on the grassroots progressive organization’s decision to back Ossoff:
“Electing Jon Ossoff isn’t just an opportunity for Georgia to reject Donald Trump’s hate-fueled agenda, it’s a chance to send a progressive leader from a new generation to Congress to fight for racial justice and against rapidly growing income inequality. From his private sector experience to his work as a congressional aide, Jon has shown he knows how to speak truth to power and work in service of the public.
“No single race for political office is going to signal the success or failure of the multiracial, multigenerational resistance movement that has emerged in Georgia and across the country to stand up to Donald Trump, but the grassroots campaign Jon is running is showing Democrats exactly how we need to fight.” -- Jim Dean, Chair of Democracy for America
Democracy for America is a member-driven, people-powered progressive PAC with more than one million members nationwide committed to taking on income inequality, money in politics, and structural racism.
Since its 2004 founding, DFA members have raised and contributed more than $40 million and made more than 11.1 million volunteer calls to help successfully elect 907 progressive candidates nationwide.
