Eric S. Higgins is a 30-year veteran of the Little Rock Police Department. Eric retired after over 10 years as Assistant Chief of Police in 2015. He has been an instructor at Arkansas Baptist College since 2013. Currently, he is the Director of Outcomes Assessment with the National OK Program and a managing member of SOF Solutions LLC consulting, and a volunteer coordinator with local re-entry program, The Exodus Project - Out for Life.

Eric has been heavily involved in the community and in public service throughout his life. He earned a B.S. in Multidisciplinary Studies: Government and Business and a M.A in Human Services: Executive Leadership and Counseling from Liberty University. He is a member of the Little Rock School District’s Volunteers in Public Schools (ViPS) Executive Board; Institute for Law Enforcement Administration Alumni, Leadership Greater Little Rock Alumni. Additionally, Higgins serves as President of the Governing Board of Lisa Academy Charter School.

With his experience in law enforcement and his extensive community involvement, Eric is running for Sheriff because he is fully committed to working to bring the Pulaski County community and local law enforcement closer together and building a model of just policing. Eric believes that creating a positive and productive relationship between the two will improve the quality of life and safety for the residents of Pulaski County. He believes in always working with integrity and employing a crime prevention approach— not an arrest-driven approach. Eric’s end-goal as the Pulaski County Sheriff is a lack of crime throughout the community; not a high prison count.
