BURLINGTON, VT -- Today, Democracy for America (DFA) endorsed Madison Nguyen for City Council of San Jose, California -- making her the newest member of the DFA-List, Candidates for America.
"Madison Nguyen has proven that anything can be achieved with hard work and determination," said Jim Dean, Chair of Democracy for America. "Her sound leadership, commitment to education, good jobs and quality health care is just what the people of San Jose need. We are proud to add her to the DFA-List."
Madison Nguyen has truly lived the American dream. Thirty years ago, she and her family risked their lives escaping the Vietnam War in order to come to the United States. In 2002, Madison became the first Vietnamese woman elected to public office in California. As President of the Board of Education in her district, Madison has fought hard to ensure that students have the necessary resources available to them. Madison is committed to supporting the workforce of the city of San Jose and will advocate for neighborhood safety, excellent public schools, good jobs, good wages and quality health care. The special election is September 13th.

Candidates for Monroe County Legislature

The DFA-List Candidates are:
Ted Nixon for Monroe County Legislature. Ted understands the importance of fiscal responsibility. He plans to build a robust economy that offers greater opportunities and enhances the overall quality of life for Monroe County citizens. Nixon believes the County Legislature has become a "good old boys club" run for the benefit of the Republican majority which has led to a fiscal crisis in the county. The election is November 8, 2005.
