Health Care Reform And The Religious Right

I suppose I shouldn't really be surprised, but still I am. Some of the so called leaders of the Religious Community have begun speaking out on Pres Obama's Health Care Reform plan, and I find what many are saying to be amazing and surprising. Apparently, according to many of them, Jesus himself would not support the Obama Health Care Reform plan. Really? We are talking about the same Jesus Christ that the Bible repeatedly shows examples of his deep concern and compassion for the poor, downtroddensick, disabled....? Jesus would not support a plan that would provide Health Care services for nearly 50 million people who currently are uninsured and lack Health Care? Jesus himself would prefer that these nearly 50 million people not receiving Health Care stay uninsured and untreated?( which is the end result if the Obama plan fails to pass)  What a crock!

In the days of Jesus there was also a group of so called Religious leaders who claimed their beliefs and views were the Word Of God. They were known as the money changers. The great majority of the public faithful believed that the money changers did indeed represent the Word Of God. Until the day Jesus himself stormed into the Temple and proclaimed "You have turned my Father's House into a den of thieves" overturned their tables, and threw them out of the Temple. Apparently Jesus himself didn't believe they represented the word of his Father, and today we know they didn't. They were frauds, mostly concerned about their own personal fortunes.

These so called Religious leaders of today ( Dobson, Robertson....) remind me very much of the money changers in Jesus day. They run multi million dollar Religious Corporations, tax exempt of course. They live in multi million dollar mansions paid for by what their poor and working class flock members put on the plate on Sundays. These religious leaders of today are no less of a fraud than the money changers were in Jesus day!

It's time for the real Christians of today to stop blindly believing everything being said by these Charlatans. Do some soul searching and ask yourself, do these so called Religious leaders of today really represent the Word Of God and the true teachings of Jesus? Or are they too really more concerned with their own personal fortunes. Because just like the money changers, many of these phony Christian leaders of today are really big businessmen, not real men of the cloth, ARE more concerned about their own wealth, and do NOT represent the true word of God or the true teachings of Jesus. The real Jesus would definately support Health Care for all. It says this repeatedly in the Bible.
