Mitzy is a two year old Brittany Spaniel/Chocolate Lab mix.  She is a wonderful dog who loves to play, especially fetch, and loves to go for rides in the car.  She knows how to sit, shake and heel. 

Mitzy's family loved her very much.  They had her spayed, as all responsible pet-owners should, and took her to the Vet for the least little problem.  Mitzy was a member of the family, and when a member of your family is sick, you take them to the doctor.

However, about six months ago, the father of Mitzy's family lost his job.  The result was so financially devastating that they could no longer afford to care for Mitzy and were forced to surrender her to the Missaukee Humane Society.

Given the exponential descent of our economy, Mitzy's story has become all too common.  But, there is something you can do to help.  Missaukee Humane Society (MHS) is a small shelter in rural northern Michigan, dependent on contributions to continue their mission of mercy.  They are one of the only no-kill animal shelters left in Michigan, and are currently running on a deficit, at full capacity.  Many mornings, the staff arrives to find abandoned pets, left overnight by owners who can no longer afford to feed or care for them.

Oil Crisis: Oil Industry's method of raising prices and cutting their own taxes

Regarding opening environmentally protected areas for mining and pumping oil:

There is over 200 years of oil in the 48 contiguous States that are capped up by oil companies to monopolize world energy. There is no need to violate our environmentally protected areas, just to allow oil companies to further monopolize their strangle hold over our lives.

They are creating a media frenzy just to increase the price of oil; very successfully I might add. However, there is no immediate threat for an oil shortage !!! The oil companies have ONLY created the perception that there is a shortage !!!!

I personally believe that ALL mineral rights belong to the American People, NOT souless corporations!!!

I applaud Venezuela for nationalizing the oil assets in their country!!!!

We should be doing the same thing here in the United States !!!!

I have spent a lifetime working for the party and its candidates; at no time have I been asked to serve on any committee or serve in any capacity.  The only time I have ever been contacted by the National or State Party is to request money. I believe my resume’ of elected service, leadership demonstrated from being President of MML and every civic, community group I have belonged to qualifies me to serve in some capacity, but maybe not.  After thirty five years, there is nothing the party believes I can assist with, that my only contribution should be on the local level?  Sometimes throwing a faithful servant a ‘bone’ or ‘appointment’ or ‘title’ or just a ‘thank you’ can go a long way towards making a volunteer feel needed and wanted. After our dinner in Feb. in Marshall, other than a short note from Jay Nixon, and a thank you from Brandon (I don’t remember if you were there or not but sure you would have said thanks).  Over $5,000.00 was raised for the Nixon campaign; there were over 300 in attendance and there were seven state wide candidates there. The only other person I received a call or note from was Jeff Harris and he wasn’t even able to attend!

A pendulum swings to the left and to the right. Finally the Bush Administration and his minions have been exposed for what they are – radical right corporate elite who will do anything to put money into the pockets of their elite friends – even if that means trampling over the United States Constitution.

They don’t care about health care, they don’t care about our civil liberties, and they don’t care about establishing a living wage for hard working Americans.

As we go into 2008, the pendulum has swung to our favor. However, we must keep the wolves out of our chicken coop.

A very hungry and tired man was invited to a feast. As he began walking a few miles to the amazing feast filled with wonderful foods and deserts, a wolf in sheep’s clothing stopped to tempt him. “Why don’t you try some of my delicious soup,” said the wolf. The man stopped… he could smell the soup…he could almost taste the sweet aroma of the juice… his hand could feel the warmth of the pot. He thought to himself… “Gee… I haven’t eaten in days, I know I have a feast being prepared for me right now, but I am so hungry and this soup looks so good...”
