Oil Crisis: Oil Industry's method of raising prices and cutting their own taxes

Regarding opening environmentally protected areas for mining and pumping oil:

There is over 200 years of oil in the 48 contiguous States that are capped up by oil companies to monopolize world energy. There is no need to violate our environmentally protected areas, just to allow oil companies to further monopolize their strangle hold over our lives.

They are creating a media frenzy just to increase the price of oil; very successfully I might add. However, there is no immediate threat for an oil shortage !!! The oil companies have ONLY created the perception that there is a shortage !!!!

I personally believe that ALL mineral rights belong to the American People, NOT souless corporations!!!

I applaud Venezuela for nationalizing the oil assets in their country!!!!

We should be doing the same thing here in the United States !!!!

Ethically Eliminate ALL Political Corruption

Tonight's DFA meeting.

Our DFA group met tonight at a new location - the Applesauce Teahouse on south San Francisco street. It's a nice location and there's beverages. It looks like we'll continue to meet there.

Our group endorsed two candidates: Mike Cacciopoli for the CD1 and Mark Manoil for Arizona Corporation Commission. Both are excellent candidates. Mark Manoil ran last time, but Arizona elected all Republicans for the commission - one whom ended up being indicted for something illegal. Sheesh. Mike is one of our own DFA folks and is working hard to win the primary and take on Rick Renzi in the general election. Renzi has tons of cash, so Mike needs a ton of support.

Our group also discussed our plan for a special event that includes films, candidates, and issue discussions. We're excited by the concept. We also are planning a yard sale to help fund our event, so if anyone has items they want to get rid of, we are looking for donations.

Anyway, a satisfying evening with wonderful comrades-in-arms. We are taking our country back

I think this is a great feature of the DFA-Link - blogging! We all have great info to share, so this may be a better way than using the yahoo groups. Shall we discuss this at our next meeting?

Just so everyone knows, we'll be meeting at the Applesauce Teahouse on Wednesday, April 5, at 6:00. We're trying out the space compared to meeting at the Hive.

thoughts on immigration

I am a progressive (like all of you). As such, I support causes like affordable health care, environmental preservation, peace, quality education, accountable government, and a living wage for all workers (like all of you). But I have reached my personal threshold when it comes to progressives' overwhelming stand on immigration.
All summer long, we read stories about resource-strapped, understaffed immigration agents struggling to protect our border with Mexico. Having paid plenty of lip service to the problem, state and national officials fail at creating results.
Progressives believe in fairness, yet a judge ruled that Arizona school districts must increase spending for teaching English to non-native speakers, even though many of the families benefiting from this initiative crossed the border illegally.
Progressives believe in protection, but border agents continue to have Molotov cocktails hurled at them. Meanwhile, some on the left rally for the immigrants' amnesty.
Governor Napolitano diverted $1.5 million earmarked for disaster relief to bolster resources in the border fight because our federal government can't do the job. In the wake of Katrina, does this make sense?
Traditionally, liberalism has stood for fairness and justice. My fellow Democrats and progressives, where is the justice in breaking the rules and coming to this country illegally? It is time to grow a backbone and stand on the right side of this issue.
