Last night featured some of the Democratic Party's heaviest hitters, and none of them disappointed. In case you missed it, here is the next vice president of the United States.
Tonight features Gov. Howard Dean and Sen. Barack Obama. I'd ask who you're excited to see, but I think I already know the answer.

It is amazing how on fire some of our, um, more lackluster speakers have just caught fire this election season. Now that Gore and Kerry are not being handled, their true passion is coming out. Al of course has been outstanding as a global warming expert.

BUT... I was amazed at Al Gore's new and terrific speaking style. All those global warming presentations have done their good work. He has an absolutely beautiful delivery.
And what a total treat to see Susie Eisenhower at the Democratic convention!!! She used to live in my little town and we were in a professional group together and were friends, back in the day. At the time she was a liberal GOP -- there were such things back then. She's a great gal, a really nice person and now a Democrat too, how totally cool.

Well now, how's it going, eh? Isn't this a grand evening?
I wore my Obama shirt all day today and was amazed at the thumbs up I got, mostly from the younger generation. I did have someone in a small cafe we stopped at for lunch ask me who that was on my shirt, but he was funnin' me. He had to tell me he wasn't going to vote for him.
I just smiled and asked him what his grandchildren thought of that with a big smile.
No response. I don't think he got it.
So props to Howard, first thing out of Barack's mouth. Is everybody happy?? :)

Howard was all over that speech, all over this convention, and so were all of you/us. We have taken our country back. Believe it!
Thanks for leaving some Strohs in Wisconsin for da regulars. Tomorrow I leave God's country to go home to attend a wedding reception - in mom's backyard! No dress up, pool party. Band on our patio, just bizarre but something that is going to be cool. Sister and family is invited so that's good.
Then on Monday - WRIGLEY FIELD!! OMG I cannot wait.
I gotta go check some other sites - night all. Go Barack!! And Michelle just has it.

Night after night, he responded that the speeches were tedious to listen to.

As I watched Obama this evening, I kept seeing flashes of inspiration that definitely had their roots in Howard, Dean For America and DFA. I honestly believe Howard and DFA paved the way for Obama's rise to the nomination.
In so many ways, Dean people who have kept the faith and DFA who continues to inspire and train us should be thanked.
I can't ever remember hearing a more perfect political speech in my entire life.
Now we have a couple of months of work cut out for us.
I'm just speechless right now. What an emotional night. I'm still just taking it all in. Unbelievable. I can't wait to hear what Pat in CO says - and also to get the goose bumps report from linda b.

...God forbid anyone things I actually read the stupid threads on this blog. My impressions of tonight -- must have slept through Howard if he spoke. Woke up around 8. David Brooks actually said something I liked - that Schweitzer was the 'star' so far and the 'star' of the 2nd tier -- he won't be 2nd tier for long imo.
That catty Katty Kay and Matt Fry were very negative -- said they shouldn't have gone to the stadium, that it wouldn't be filled, that the lines were horrendous -- someone pulled their cable at the end -- talk about Faux News on BBC.
I mostly watched CSPAN. The little speeches were just great. I enjoyed the Generals but was sorry my hero Roussel Honore was not among them - please let him not be a Pug...Barack's was pretnear perfect. The fireworks were wonderful but the 'principals' seemed at a loss of what to do. What was that strange symphonic music they played during the fireworks? Barack's bio movie was OK and I'm pretty sure that was one of my crushes David Straithairn narrating.
Nitie -- unless this or the W/C gets livelier...
he can't stop talking about the "greatest political speech of our time" then you know that Barack Obama has made history with everyone who witnessed tonight.
This is momentous, this is the America we've longed for, believed in, witnessed being betrayed, and is now promised to be restored, revitalized, not just by Barack but by all of us. We are taking this country back, and Howard Dean, you are a hero as is Al Gore, John Kerry, Hillary and Bill Clinton, Joe Biden, and all those who have recognized and supported this extraordinary young leader, Barack Obama.
I am overwhelmed. This is the culmlination of 48 years of tragedy, loss, decline, and betrayal by politicians, especially the dishonest, divisive, and corrupt politicians and corporatists and ideologues who have held sway. Now it is ending, thanks to everyone who listened, read, watched, responded, blogged, emailed, knocked on doors, phone banked, attended meetings and caucuses, argued with family and neighbors, sent in money, and believed. We do have a world leader who will help us help ourselves and each other.
We are our brother's keeper, our sister's keeper. We are all connected.
This is the loveliest, most wonderful moment in 48 years of being politically committed and aware in this wonderful country with its wonderful people, its capacity for justice and mercy, for its belief in the potential of all human beings. Yes, God bless America and the world and all of us.

Tonight my wife and I gathered with a couple hundred good friends, two tv news and a newspaper reporter to watch the show at Mile-High. Great food, good seating at long tables. Barney Smith got the first standing ovation. Al Gore fired our imagination. Dick Durbin is an American Hero. The star, my favorite pol of all time, Barack Obama just simply rocked the whole bar and grill. I recruited a dozen new volunteers for phonebanking and neigborhood outreach. Even got a couple new dues-paying county party members. It is a great time to be a Democrat, even in this red state. Folks, keep working and talking. This is going to be a tremedous couple months.
It was good to feel home again.
My daughter has little interest in politics, but I got her to watch a bit of Obama's speech so she could tell her kids someday that she witnessed history in the making. My wife cried. To my astonishment, Pat Pukhanan on MSNBC even admitted it to be, "the best nomination speech ever." Whoa!
But of course, the AP ran what has become their usual Obama hit piece on the speech that had to have been written before it was even finished...
