DemocracyFest (Epilogue)
Herein is my Deanstock 5 report to the community, and first of all I want to thank the folks who not only got this street musician to this event, but made my better two thirds comfortable sending me off to do something that was really important.
Demonstrating Gizmo is a bit moar complicated than I had anticipated, and as Denise saw, I had a problem with the readings that come when two hearts are using the machine. I'll work on this. My concern was that it was difficult to demonstrate the level of coherence that I can get to when I'm doing my heart dance routine alone. So when Denise posted that we were working on the demonstration, I was dealing with a number of unexpected glitches.
I spent about 4 hours spinning coherent heart waves near DC...
Some folks got to see me playing with Gizmo as they were leaving, but there was no prime time presentation. Charlie played Gizmo for about an hour. I'd appreciate hearing his thoughts on what happened.
Something happens in my heart when I sing to Puddle. Something happens in my heart when I sing to Dean People.
It happened on Saturday night...
I arrived in DC on Friday evening. It's about a half mile from the bus to the Metro, and Gizmo and the laptop were heavier than I had expected, so I must have looked awkward walking into Union Station. I'm sure glad I didn't throw my fare card away when I entered the station, because you need it to leave the Metro. Luckily it has a cute picture of a panda bear so I held on to it.
The acoustics in this subway system are awful, largely due to its ventilation system but it's a very aesthetic. did notice though that it's very poorly lit. If we had that here in NYC we'd have a crime wave. Went out to West Falls Church, VA and Rich picked me up at the station. It was the first time I'd ever ridden in a Hybrid electric car. Pretty neat.
I arrived at the hotel and Quintus and Sal had just arrived, and Puddle and Donna were at the entrance. Denise met me inside. Out on the patio we looked up and there was a full moon that lasted the whole weekend. I smiled because it was perfect for spinning waves.
It was really great seeing the Deaniacs in the lounge, but it was sad that Thankful and Phil weren't there. When I got up to my room I set up the Heart Tuner Gizmo and started waving at Washington. For several weeks it felt like I was internalizing the wave patterns, as if to draw waves into me. So I had determined to use my sessions in DC to expand the waves outward from me.
Each time I would reach a coherence peak I would visualize each Deaniac that I had seen that evening and then visualizing them in a group. This had me spinning some pretty strong waves as I fought to keep the program from overloading. I did this four separate times over the three days.
And then there's Charlie. If you take a look at the pictures at my homepage, you'll see that I generally have about 12 coherence peaks. Charlie had about twice as many, and he built up a good head of steam early on. I stood behind him, and having knowledge of the game, was able to play along without being connected. I was pretty astounded by his level of coherence, and he overloaded the program at about the same moment that I would have.
I don't know what will come of it, but spinning coherent waves in a space of such short supply was so interesting that I'm expecting to see a result somewhere over the next few news cycles. The pebble is in the pond.
Listening to Howard speak only reinforced my belief that he needs to be on the ticket, and I think Obama is leaning in that direction. I'm surprised that the place wasn't packed, but that made the whole thing seem like a family reunion.
Then I took all that heart wave spinning and brought it on stage on Saturday night. If I've ever put on a better show, I really can't remember when. I opened up and just let it fly.
Sometimes altering the course of Civilization seems like a lonely task, but it was nice to reaffirm the fact that it's what Deaniacs do naturally.
Look at the state of political blogging today. Look at the ways Obama grew his campaign.
It all began in THIS community, with a man of integrity and honor named Howard Dean.

Deaniacs know how to do heart thingies. srsly.
When I say Dean should be on the ticket, it's because Obama really needs Dean's community to sign on in a big way. The folks who made Dean the DNC chair would go nutz.
I was a little intrigued that Dean indicated he was not to talk about a vice presidential nomination rather than simply blowing off the possibility.
Thanks for your "epilogue" Subway and thanks to both Subway and linda b for being there.
And everybody else too.
A good bunch of us got together with Jim, and he was very gracious. He appreciates the value of The Conversation, and I look forward to seeing how this input is acted a pwn.
Just got home! Missing you all already!
DeanFest was THE political conference of the year, because we are the community that started it all.
Hope the kids enjoyed the holiday story.
