Registration issues
Linked to groups: 2007 Training Academy Organizers
Arshad and Ben are working on this but I thought I would share some of the frustrations we have had with registrations.
The way things are set up...you have to make sure that folks understand that they need to use the drop down menu of Training sites or they will get a "THank you for regsitering for the .....insert the next training here... DFA Training Academy" notice. This is of course confusing....Hey...I was signing up for Columbia MO and it is thanking me for signing up for Houston TX.
Also...if folks click "pay now" on the main Training page rather than RSVP (which is a rather intuitive thing to do,) their money will be taken anfd they will be registered (apparently) but they will not be listed as an attendee in the RSVP list. Arshad has added a bolded instruction next the Pay now thing in an effort to prevent this. So...have them RSVP...payment can be made there as well. As for the RSVP area, it looks as if you must pay to be RSVP'd, but you do not have to pay. A friend of mine RSVP'd twice as he was attempting to RSVP without payment and could not see how to do that.
And another issue....
The Statewide DFA groups in your State are checked as a default for all those who register for the training. Not a polite internet pracice, IMHO. Also...there may be some Statewide DFAlinks in your area which are abandoned (as in our case...we had one called Missouri Democratic Freedom Caucus, which was getting a lot of new members as a result of the training but which was abandoned.) If there are any ersatz/fringey statewide groups in your State, the attendees have a possibility of being spammed by the host of those sites. Charles was able to take down the abandoned site in Missouri for us, but left the genuine State Group checked by default..
We now have over 50 RSVps for our mid April Training...things are lookin good. I just thought I would give this list a heads up on potential problems.
