Pax Christi has been in existence since 1945 and represents the worldwide Catholic peace movement with consultative status at the United Nations.

Pax Christi Summit is one of about 8 local groups in NJ. Currently Pax Christi NJ is advocating for ending the use of torture, closing the School of the Americas, fair treatment for detainees at the immigration detention center in Elizabeth, ending the war and raising awareness about the Iraqi refugee crisis and promoting the building of affordable housing in all NJ communities.

Pax Christi NJ is a region of Pax Christi USA which reaches more than half a million Catholics in the U.S. Its membership includes more than 130 U.S. bishops, 800 parish sponsors, 650 religious communities and 300 local groups.

Pax Christi USA strives to create a world that reflects the Peace of Christ by exploring, articulating, and witnessing to the call of Christian nonviolence. This work begins in personal life and extends to communities of reflection and action to transform structures of society. Pax Christi USA rejects war, preparations for war, and every form of violence and domination. It advocates primacy of conscience, economic and social justice, and respect for creation.
