Oak Park DFA Iraq War Forum

Oak Park DFA is holding an Iraq War Forum on Saturday, July 15th at the Oak Park Public Library. This is a follow-up to our highly successful Candidates Forum this past February.

Panelists include:
Ira Cohen, the Issues and Committees Director for Congressman Danny Davis
Ali Elsaffar, Oak Park Township Assessor - and Iraqi American
Dan Proft, who comes to us via the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations, is a leading Republican political operative and strategist for the past 12 years and a regular contributor to local and national periodicals and public affairs programs.

The moderator will be finalized shortly and we will have 1-2 additional panel members - we are confirming them this week.

The goal - as with all IRF's across the US - is to foster a "civil civic discussion" of this centrally important issue. We want to keep the public focused on this pressing problem rather than getting distracted by political manipulations on gay marriage, flag burning, etc.

This will be a moderated panel discussion - in the interest of fairness and civility no questions will be taken from the floor. All sides on the questions of how we got here and where we should go from here will have to be defended by each panelist in terms of their own position on the issue.
