An Inconvenient Truth

NEW UPDATE: Our showing is at 7:40 PM. I have already purchased tickets for the first 15 people who signed up and will try to pick them up today to bring to tomorrow's meetup. The Sierra Club's showing is at 7:10PM, so that is the one before which we will hand out Democracy for Chicago cards. (The showing prior to that is 4:40 PM, so we won't be flyering before the 7:10 show.) The show after ours is 9:40 PM, so we might be able to hand out cards to people going into that show on our way out....

For dinner after the movie, how about Bucca di Beppo, right up the street?

Al Gore's much talked-about movie finally opens in Chicago on Friday, June 2 and we will be there in force. It will open in the two Century Theater locations (Diversey and Evanston). We'll go to a c. 8PM? showing (I'll update this when show times are announced) and go out for dinner, drinks, and discussion afterwards. The Sierra Club is sending a lot of people to the one at Diversey. As long as there is room for us, I think it would be great to join them. It will be important to get a tally of how many are coming so we can get tickets in advance.

UPDATE: At the joint Democracy for Chicago steering committee meeting Alan C. made a great suggestion: a few people should come earlier in the day and take turns handing out Democracy for Chicago flyers (listing all 3 major Chicago groups: us, Loop, and Quenchers) to people coming in to see earlier showings of Gore's movie that day, as well as before the 8PM show (others could save their seats so they could come in right before the movie starts). Everyone would still be able to go out for dinner and drinks after the show (we could even hand out cards before the c. 10PM show, if there is one, on our way out of the theater).
