Stender is a former mayor of Fanwood and a three-term New Jersey Assemblywoman. Her candidacy is supported by Emily's List and, the Sierra Club and she is one of forty candidates on the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee's Red to Blue List, a group of candidates considered to have the best chance to win.
