Who am I?

Diane Evans is a former City Clerk of Wadley, Georgia, intern for the City of Wrens and worked as Administrative Assistant to Screven County's government. A native of Screven County and has lived in Jefferson County for the past thirty plus years. She is a retired educator, pastor and former small-business owner of a water/waster water testing lab. She is a graduate of Georgia Southern University; Erskine College, University of Georgia. She is currently serving as Pastor and a Moderator of a Baptist Church.

Diane holds membership with Jefferson County Retired Educators, NAACP; Jefferson County Democratic Committee; State Committee member for Democratic party; secretary for her party's County Chairs Association for the State; past matron of her local Order of Eastern Star; a member of the Georgia & National School Nutrition Associations.

Why am I running?

Diane is running because she has an in-depth understanding of the needs of the citizens in the counties of District 23. She is an advocate for bringing jobs back to her district; improving the successes of public schools, colleges and the universities located in the district; supporting the active and retired military personnel and their families with Fort Gordon in the district; and providing more accessible support to our Senior Citizens.

My Goals

Diane's top three policy goals include: economic development, education and health care concerns. Diane will work with the local officials and peers in the legislature to form collaboration and bipartisanship concerns for similar achievable goals.

My DFA Values

Diane believes in grassroots campaign that involves community, promotes security and liberty for each citizen. Diane lives in a rural area outside of Augusta, Georgia and knows the values of community for all people. She knows that it is important to respect all people and to include people in all aspects of democracy. As a female pastor, she has had to break barriers and to include all of God's children has never been an issue for her.

My Campaign is People Powered!

Again, Diane's campaign is so grassroots that she has to build upon precepts upon precepts. There are eleven counties, with about 100 mile radius, in the rural area and TEAM Evans is having to have to build multi-teams of several counties in order to build collaboration and carry out the campaign plan to each targeted home. As a member of the Progressive Democrats, we use a lot of their concepts to spread the message of the Campaign out to the branches.

About the Endorsement Process

The driving force behind all DFA endorsements is our members. We recognize that all politics is local and that what is considered progressive in Los Angeles may be very different from what's considered progressive in Louisville. For this reason, DFA does not have a litmus test of specific progressive positions for which a candidate must stand. Our endorsement is heavily weighted based on these questions:

• Will the candidate move the progressive movement forward in their community?
• Does the candidate have substantial support from our local members?
• Do the candidate's positions and policies fit into the broader progressive movement?
• Is the campaign people-powered and the candidate working to win?
