Who am I?

I am a mother of an awesome eight year old son, a criminal defense/criminal appeals lawyer, and a person that loves getting involved in the community. As a lawyer, I fight to protect and preserve my clients' constitutional rights and freedoms (going all the way to the Nevada Supreme Court if needed); as a resident of Las Vegas, I am active in voter registration drives, participate in neighborhood clean ups, participate in civic engagement & field organizing events, volunteer at school events, etc. I love my community.

Why am I running?

I am running for Judge because I believe in 3 things - we the people, the rights bestowed upon us by the US Constitution, and the concept of the independent judiciary, and I do not like the way the Courts have departed from these 3 principles. I do not like the way people are disrespected when they appear in Court; I do not like the way the Courts turn a blind eye to Constitutional rights violations; and I do not like the way Judges advertise that they are friends of the District Attorneys Office and Law Enforcement - Justice is supposed to be blind and not play favorites.

Constitutional rights violations are not okay, and the Courts should not be ruling in favor of the violators. For example, I had a double jeopardy case where three different judges denied my motions to dismiss because it was not fair to the D.A.'s office that it could not prosecute my client. After three years of fighting, I was able to get the case dismissed at the Nevada Supreme Court level; however, my client was detrimented by the long fight. Cases need to be handled properly by the Courts the first time. (Other issues I've fought against include destruction of evidence, evidence tampering, and municipal ordinances being stronger and harsher than the state law)

My Goals

My goals are to restore fairness and balance to the Court, to treat people with respect/protect and preserve people's constitutional rights, liberties, and freedoms, and to focus on rehabilitation over incarceration and retaliation. As the judge who sets the tone for the entire court room, I will listen objectively and compassionately to the people that appear in the court room, I will make the prosecution prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt and make sure that all of the D.A.'s evidence was properly obtained, if there is a constitutional right's violation, I will dismiss the case against the Defendant (if cases are dismissed, law enforcement will start doing things properly, and they will make changes to their training, policies, and procedures), and I will expand rehab programs, especially for first time non violent offenders. We need to keep people employed and families together, and reserve jail/prison for the real harms to society.

My DFA Values

People come first!! People are more important than money and things!! I believe in staying active in the community and campaigning directly to the people - I like to go door to door and meet people, I like to meet people at parks, I like to meet people at community festivals, I like to partipate in neighborhood clean ups and other neighborhood events. my goal for this election is to restore fairness and balance to the court, to make sure people are treated with respect, and to make sure people's constitutional rights are protected and preserved. I also want to focus on rehabilitation, because not everyone needs to be incarcerated, especially first time non violent offenders. Whenever possible we need to keep people employed and family , togethert andkeep jail/prison only for real harms to society.

My Campaign is People Powered!

This campaign is total grassroots. It's about going directly to the people, going door to door, and meeting people at parks/grocery stores/festivals. It's about getting active in the community by participating in voter registration drives, and by participating in neighborhood clean ups and other neighborhood events. It's about putting people first. When people are helped, people get empowered, people succeed.

The campaign has been blessed to have received the endorsement of the Progressive Democrats of Nevada. With the Progressive Democrats of Nevada, I participated in a community clean-up on the west side of Las Vegas, on F street, I attended the Bridge of Peace/Moulin Rouge Affair event, I participated in the F street festival, and an Easter Egg event at Sunset Park. I will continue to participate in events that are coordinated by PDN as well as continue the door to doors and other neighborhood events that the campaign was participating in on its own.

About the Endorsement Process

The driving force behind all DFA endorsements is our members. We recognize that all politics is local and that what is considered progressive in Los Angeles may be very different from what's considered progressive in Louisville. For this reason, DFA does not have a litmus test of specific progressive positions for which a candidate must stand. Our endorsement is heavily weighted based on these questions:

• Will the candidate move the progressive movement forward in their community?
• Does the candidate have substantial support from our local members?
• Do the candidate's positions and policies fit into the broader progressive movement?
• Is the campaign people-powered and the candidate working to win?
