Tracy Emblem For Congress

Background:

I am an appellate attorney who has lived in Escondido since 1964. I received my law degree from National University School of Law in 1989. I worked at the California Office of Attorney General, writs and appeals division. Working closely with my husband Thor Emblem I have worked on civil cases. I have also researched and written hundreds of civil, criminal writs and appeals, and worked on special writs of habeas corpus cases. I have argued in the California Supreme Court and have served as a judge pro tem. I am known for taking on very challenging cases. I appeared on Larry King Live for the pro bono work I did to free an innocent man, wrongly imprisoned for 21-years. I have served on the board of directors for the League of Women Voters of Escondido and served as board president of Escondido Community Child Development Center, a non-profit early child care and education facility for low income families. I have a law degree and I have been researching and writing policy, and constitutional law issues since 1988. Congress needs members who can read proposed legislation. I can cut through the bias when taking testimony and draft bills that benefit Americans at large.

Goals:

I believe very strongly in democracy. I'm running to work for solutions to problems Americans are facing everyday.

Issues:

Jobs and housing; health care reform, single payer health care insurance; and economic and social justice.

Grassroots Support:

Grassroots organizing plays a big role in the campaign. We plan to organize to reach voters in the district and organize to reach the public at large with events that give back to the community.

DFA Values:

I have a progressive spirit. We must look for things that have not worked in the past due to failed policies. I support people participating in our government at all levels and educating people to become part of the problem solving we need to move America forward.
