Jeffrey Brown for U.S. House- Arizona Congressional District 1
| Name: | Jeffrey Brown for U.S. House- Arizona Congressional District 1 |
| Office: | U.S. House AZCD1 |
| Website: | jeffreybrownforcongress.com |
Background:
I started working when I was 13 years old, the son of a roofer, and a native Arizonan, I have previously worked for two City Council members, one now in the Az. House of Reps. and former U.S. Sen. Dennis DeConcini(D-AZ). This is my first run for public office. I am the youngest of the candidates in the field right now(41)
Goals:
To provide a voice to the often unrepresented in our society... the poor, the homeless, the over 47 million Americans without health insurance. To stand up for the working man. The average, hardworking, American. The kind of person who gets up every day and gets done, what is needed to get done. I believe we are facing a crisis in the shrinking middle class and I would work tirelessly in order to reverse that trend. We need to seriously re-evaluate our trade policy, especially with China, and ensure that we have a trade policy that supports and encourages American jobs and American workers. I believe we need to end the war in Iraq, a war which was sold to the American people based on deception. There were no weapons of mass destruction, no plausible nuclear threat and no connection to the attack on America on Sept 11, 2001. We need to BRING OUR TROOPS HOME NOW, take care of them once they return, and use this incredible amount of money which is being spent in Iraq, for programs here at home. We need to improve the Quality of our Health Care system, which According to the World Health Organization, is ranked 37th in the world. We can do better. We need to extend coverage to all Americans and affirm that we as a nation believe that every citizen has a right to quality health care. Quality, comprehensive health care coverage should be a right for all Americans, not a privilege.. It is time that the United States join the rest of the industrialized world in affirming this basic human right by establishing a single- payer not for profit health care system here in the U.S. We also need to remember that with the exception of the Native American people, we have all come from somewhere else. We are truly a nation of immigrants, and while we need to be secure, we must also remember that most people who come to the U.S. are not coming here to do us harm, However, these people simply are trying to improve their situation for themselves and their families. I would like to tone down the anti-immigrant rhetoric and engage in a serious discussion of our immigration policy. The Congress has failed in this area. 1986 is the last time Congress addressed this issue. Congress can do better. We must also end our dependence on finite resources such as petroleum and work towards alternative energy sources especially solar and wind technologies. Energy solutions which will reduce the amount of pollution to our planet.
Issues:
Ending the War in Iraq, establishing a comprehensive single- payer health care system for all Americans. restoring America's middle class, and strengthening our position in the global market.
Grassroots Support:
grass roots organizing will be tremendously important in this election.
DFA Values:
I am unequivocally pro choice I support full marriage equality. The repeal of "Dont Ask Dont tell" and an end to workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation. Improving access to health care for all Americans, through a not for profit system. Restoring America's middle class. Stenghthening our standing in the world, through fair trade agreements. Increasing environmental regulations, in order to protect our planet. And most importantly, a return to a more open, honest, transparent, and inclusive way of doing business in Washington. The people of Arizona's Congressional district 1 have had enough of corrupt politicians. I would change that, and I respectfully ask for your help..
