Who am I?

I am the only current Democratic incumbent in my district. I am the lone survivor of the 2010 Republican Tsunami. Too many good Democrats lost because of a failure of voters to understand the difference and separate State Government from the Federal Government. Under the previous term, we Democrats were able to pass significant legislation that really benefited our state. Serving on an environmental committee, I was able to have a voice in preserving the purity of our drinking water, our forests, our wetlands. I was able to help pass legislation that stopped overbuilding and the erosion of our lands near lakes, rivers and streams. We were able to stop the burning of toxic refuse. My vote in the House as a whole helped to fund public education. We were able to lower the dropout rate in schools by a significant amount. We increased revenue for the state without increasing property taxes or having a broad based tax. We supported the mentally disabled by eliminating the wait list for state aid. We established a jobs program that lowered our jobless rate to 4.5%. We ended our budget year with a $17M surplus. During the current term under the Republican majority of 3 to 1, all our good works were repealed and harmful ALEC legislation passed. They passed 13 gun bills, 25 anti-education bills, voter suppression bills, hampered worker's bargaining capabilities, cut revenue sources and are ending their fiscal year with a deficit. I am a Progressive Democrat who will always fight for the working middle class

Why am I running?

I am running again to try to undo the harm done by a radical Republican Tea Party, Free Stateter, Libertarian Legislature that has done at least a decade's worth of damage to our state. It is absolutely essential that every Democrat stand up for our core values and bring back sanity to our local government. We can only do this if we are willing to run for office and serve if elected. I intend to do both. While I am only one voice amoung 400, my voice will be heard on all fronts. I am supporting all those good Democratic candidates who lost in the last election and are running again. I am supporting all those freshmen Democratic legislators who endured the worst legislative session in our state's history and have the intestinal fortitude and the courage to run again because they know how important it is to have a voice. I am running again because I feel that with my 4 previous terms I have the knowledge and experience to help get good government back to New Hampshire. I am running again to lend a hand and mentor those incoming freshmen Democrats that will need guidance in learning the legislative process. I am running again in order to preserve a way of life that is in danger of being lost to the radical idealists. I am running again because it is my civic duty.

My Goals

My two goals for my first year in office are as follows.

I will do everything in my power to repeal the voter ID suppression law that disenfranchises New Hampshire seniors, minorities and students. Voting is a right that should not be taken away.

I will do everything in my power to protect the Affordable Care Act benefits for New Hampshire. The current Republican majority is trying to eleminate implementation of every aspect of the bill and cut even established benefits for Medicare and Medicaid.

My DFA Values

My Campaign is People Powered!

My campaign is people powered. I have recruited two other Democrats to run along side of me for the 3 House seats to which our district is entitled. I am pooling my resources, including financial, to help these other candidates. We are running as a team. I have created and printed a flyer listing our core values and asking constituents to vote for all three of us. I have taken my running mates to the State House and introduced them to our caucus and had them sit in on a House Session to let them see how important it is for them to run. Since I am physically unable to go door-to-door, my fellow candidates are taking all our literature and distributing it as they canvass. We are holding a meet the candidates night which is purely social to intruduce ourselves and let voters know what our values are. Then we are going to have a candidates forum during which both party candidates will participate in a discussion with questions and answers from a moterator and the audience. We hope to inform the voters just what is at stake and what we plan to do to preserve our way of life and to bring back the values our state has always held. My constituents have expressed support and for the first time, our town has a Democratic Town Committee that has extremely helpful in supporting us.

About the Endorsement Process

The driving force behind all DFA endorsements is our members. We recognize that all politics is local and that what is considered progressive in Los Angeles may be very different from what's considered progressive in Louisville. For this reason, DFA does not have a litmus test of specific progressive positions for which a candidate must stand. Our endorsement is heavily weighted based on these questions:

• Will the candidate move the progressive movement forward in their community?
• Does the candidate have substantial support from our local members?
• Do the candidate's positions and policies fit into the broader progressive movement?
• Is the campaign people-powered and the candidate working to win?

If you have questions, or want to let us know about a candidate in your neighborhood, please call us at (802) 651-3200 or email us at [email protected] .
