Who am I?

I am married with three boys. I grew up in rural Iowa, working in the family business with nine sisters and four brothers. A bit crowded, yes, but we loved each other and had fun. Eventually my position as a Nuclear Fuel Handler brought me to Illinois. I resigned from that very demanding job for another demanding but more fulfilling one, staying home and raising my family in Burlington, Wisconsin.

I am now a 22 year resident of Burlington, and have learned much about the community as a local leader and volunteer. I am passionate about giving my time and talent to make a difference. I believe in protecting the American Dream and that everyone should have the opportunities of quality education and family sustaining jobs.

I will bring to Madison my vision of working together with citizens and community leaders, a passion for democracy, and strong moral and ethical beliefs. I have the strength and knowledge that a leader of the 63rd district needs to overcome the challenges of today in order to provide a better tomorrow. I will have an open door policy where everyone is welcome to come in and discuss the issues of our community.

Why am I running?

I have been very involved as a citizen and an activist over the last 17 months in what has happened to our state legislature and the extreme agenda forwarded by my opponent, Robin Vos, must be stopped.
I have not only read all of the legislation and watched it unfold via wiseye when not in person but I have actively researched the effect of the legislation on the citizens of Wisconsin and our environment. I have taken a bold stand and worked hard to inform the citizens on everything main stream media refuses to expose.

I recognized the need to take an even bolder stand and take on Scott Walker's puppet master, Robin Vos. He has not only forwarded the extreme agenda against public education, he has funneled our tax funds to his corporate interests and passed legislation that benefits him personally, right down to the elimination of tenant's right to hold their slum lord accountable.

He is ethically and morally bankrupt and the time has come to remove him from office and elect someone who is invested in the best interest of the people, who desires to represent them with a fair and "open book" policy.

It is time to restore integrity and democracy to our state government and send the message to the rest of the nation that the people shall govern our state and our nation.

I have high moral integrity and will always stand for what is right for the people, I cannot be bought.

We have come to a tipping point in Wisconsin when we have to understand that in order for our children to be successful in life, we must invest in good jobs, healthcare and education.
It is time to reinvest in our childrens future and realize the need to acquire an equal education for all who desire to further their career and achieve economic mobility.
We must invest in our neighborhoods and infrastructure so our communities can begin growing again both socially and economically.
It is time to work together to restore the Wisconsin values we hold in high regard.
It is time to protect the right of women to obtain equal career compensation and achievement that men are afforded.
In a time when our seniors are hurting most, we should be investing in tax breaks for the vulnerable, and the most successful to carry their own burden.
It is time to take care of our veterans, who risked their lives to protect the freedoms we enjoy, and take for granted. We must ensure our veterans have the ability to acquire their American dream they fought to protect.
Our future is in our hands, we must make informed decisions and place those who inspire us to rise the challenges we face in charge of enacting change that will secure our future and protect your dream.

My Goals

I will repeal the tax loopholes allowing corporations to funnel their profits out of state and use those tax dollars to refund education and affordable healthcare for general public.

I will repeal the legislation allowing private, charter and corporate schools to profit from the tax payer funds with no accountability to the tax payers or the parents, with no regard for the needs of the students they entice.

I will support the Badger Care protection Act.

I will work to repeal the attacks on the right of all workers and their right to collectively bargain.

I will repeal the cuts to the Homestead credit and the Earned Income credit that our seniors and working class desperately need.

I will repeal the legislation eliminating the rights of consumers and tenants to hold those making irresponsible decisions accountable. Our court system was developed to make these decisions and when our justices are held to a non partisan system it can accomplish was it was meant to, justice for all. This legislation tips the scale to an unfair advantage for the wealthiest.

I will work to establish a living wage and ensure there is fairness in bidding and demand when using the tax payers dollars we make responsible decisions for the economy. The ability for contractors to under bid those making responsible decisions to provide family sustaining jobs, using high quality materials and ensuring a safe workplace must be eliminated.

I will work hard to ensure that the best interest of the citizens are served and we are making responsible decisions for the environment.

My DFA Values

This legacy campaign is missing this information

My Campaign is People Powered!

Nearly all of my donors have been from grassroots, all of my volunteers on my campaign are grassroots, and with a low budget campaign I am dependent on the energy and inspiration I develop with the grassroots.
Concentrating on speaking with the people personally as much as I can, holding house parties to get in contact with my future constituents and hearing their concerns is a high priority for me. Knocking on the doors myself is crucial to letting the people in my district know that I available to them, regardless of disagreement on ideology, I have reached many citizens that, prior to having a conservation with them considered themselves Republican, have the information they need to realize that my opponent, Robin Vos, does not represent their best interest.

Taking the money out of politics is key to maintaining a people powered energized grassroots campaign.

About the Endorsement Process

The driving force behind all DFA endorsements is our members. We recognize that all politics is local and that what is considered progressive in Los Angeles may be very different from what's considered progressive in Louisville. For this reason, DFA does not have a litmus test of specific progressive positions for which a candidate must stand. Our endorsement is heavily weighted based on these questions:

• Will the candidate move the progressive movement forward in their community?
• Does the candidate have substantial support from our local members?
• Do the candidate's positions and policies fit into the broader progressive movement?
• Is the campaign people-powered and the candidate working to win?

If you have questions, or want to let us know about a candidate in your neighborhood, please call us at (802) 651-3200 or email us at [email protected] .
