Name: Kathleen "Trinka" Russell for NH State Representative - Democrat
Office: NH State Representative - Democrat - District 13
Website: n/a

Background:

I graduated in 1978 from the College of Staten Island, NY. I worked as a nurse\'s aide (until I graduated.) As an R.N. I worked in the hospital setting in various specialty areas for 18 years. ICU, Dialysis, neurology, telemetry in NYC, TX, MA and NH.
• I Graduated in 1995 from the NESAD @ Suffolk University, Boston, MA in Interior Design. I began my own business specializing in universal design and the ADA. For the past 7 years I have taught graduate students universal design at my alma mater.
Each road has led me to the next
• Nursing
• My sons led me on my design path, living in an inaccessible home with our twin sons who have physical disabilities. Then, moving into our present home which is accessible and seeing the profound significance it had on their life as well as ours.
• The significance of receiving Medicaid when they were 2½. I have recognized the importance of Medicaid and Medicare as a consumer and its assistance to families and individuals.

Goals:

My professional as well as personal experiences have lead me to believe that we are moving farther and farther away from the benefit of the \"community.\" I believe this has been fostered from the widening gap between those who have the problems and those who have the power to fix them. In my time on various committees for the NH disability community, those who had the loudest voice or had the strongest advocates were the ones that were heard. I am running for NH State Representative because I want a chance to be a part of changing our philosophy back to \"We the People\" again.

Issues:

Health Care
• I believe my varied experience in health care as a consumer as well as a professional gives me a thorough understanding of the importance of instituting a Health Care system that will benefit all who seek it.

Education
• I will work with our congressional leaders to get the mandated federal funds that our schools were guaranteed.
I will work hard to find a solution to our education crisis by seeking a steady and fair source of funding for our schools

Housing
• The cost of housing and land values in some of our communities makes it difficult, even impossible for many of our citizens to live here. We must find incentives for the development of housing to meet the needs of all of our citizens and create a more open venue for the development of accessible housing.

Grassroots Support:

The more door to door help I receive to get my name and my philosophy out to my community will help me win!

DFA Values:

I believe in a balanced budget because the first things that are cut, are social programs that I feel are essential to our growth as a nation.
