Danny Stover for US Congress

Background:

Danny's experiences both as an educator, a criminal justice expert, and a city councilman will be a great aid to the American people when he is elected to Congress. After gaining a degree in Government from Southern Illinois University, Danny began to work in the area of criminal justice. He has done government work as a law enforcement trainer, and has also served the public as an educator, program coordinator, and department chair in the fields of Justice and Political Science for learning institutions across the 19th district. He has served on the Centralia City Council for 10 years, and has fought there to maintain infrastructure and build roads, while maintaining a record of fiscal responsibility and balanced budgets. As an educator and member of the city council, Danny Stover has spent his professional life in public service, fighting for jobs and economic sense, our children, and the elderly.

Goals:

Danny is running for Congress to return representation to the people of Southern Illinois. He intends to be a ferocious advocate for children and the elderly, making education, healthcare, Medicare, and Social Security major domestic priorities. He is also a strong advocate for the environment, and wants to further our budgetary support of funding for research and development of ethanol fuels and other ecologically sound innovations. Danny will also stand up for campaign finance reform, and believes strongly that Congress must fulfill its ethical responsibilities to the American people.

Issues:

1- Help the working people of America by fostering economic conditions that create jobs, raising the minimum wage, and making healthcare affordable to all Americans.

2- Restore honesty and competency to government.

3- Return fiscal responsibility to the US Congress, reducing the national debt and balancing the budget.

Grassroots Support:

At this point in time, our campaign is entirely a grassroots effort. We are running against an incumbent with a lot of (Delay's) money, and are relying on grassroots organization and fundraising to defeat him. This is a campaign of the people of this district, and we know that they will help lead Stover to victory.

DFA Values:

Danny is a fierce supporter of many progressive social issues. He believes in a woman's right to choose, in civil rights and social justice, and in the protection and care of those most vulnerable in our society. He strongly supports smarter and better funding for our public education system, and innovation in the manner in which we fight the war on drugs.

In addition to his social values, Danny has a strong record to balanced budgets and fiscally responsible policies. He believes in reducing, and eventually eliminating, the phenomenally large national debt. He also believes in protecting social security without privatization, in providing opportunities for health care for all Americans, and in smarter funding for law enforcement and national defense.

It comes down to this: Socially Progressive and Fiscally Responsible are words that describe Danny Stover to a tee.
