Background:

State Senator Ron Klein has represented Broward and Palm Beach Counties in the Florida House and Senate for 14 years. As a Florida Senate Democratic Leader, he has fought for affordable health care, quality education and economic development. Klein is also a leader on Insurance Reform, fighting to hold insurance companies accountable.

Ron Klein has been described as a thoughtful and dedicated legislator who fights tirelessly for his constituents. His dedication comes through as he worked through the state's budget processes protecting education spending. It comes through as he fought the governor over the KidCare program to allow more children to benefit. It comes through as he fought to place a nurse in every public school.

Goals:

I am running for Congress because I understand the many challenges facing Americans today. We find ourselves mired in an unpopular war. Healthcare costs are forcing seniors and others to make painful choices between medicine and necessities. The new Medicare Drug Plan does not do enough to control drug prices and is unnecessarily complex. Homeowners insurance rates are skyrocketing while companies cancel policies randomly. Our energy policy has been written by oil companies. Good jobs are being shipped off shore. And above it all, we hear the steady drumbeat of daily scandals coming from the U.S. Congress. The Bush/Cheney administration and its GOP led rubberstamp congress have taken us to far down the wrong path.

I believe passionately in the strength, resilience, and resolve of citizens of Florida and the United States. Solutions to our toughest challenges lie in a common sense approach that promotes fairness and justice. I know that the innovative, can-do spirit of the good people of Florida and the U.S. can put this country back on a bridge to the 21st century.

1) A 21st Century Energy Policy
2) Fighting for Seniors by Protecting Social Security and working toward affordable prescription drug prices
3) Fighting for Florida's homeowners

Grassroots Support:

I am running a grassroots campaign. This campaign is fueled by a large group of supporters and volunteers who are willing to give their time and effort to bring change to South Florida. Together we are attending house parties, canvassing neighborhoods attending community events and using the internet as an organizing tool. We hope to continue this grassroots effort with the help of DFA.

DFA Values:

I am a strong supporter of a women's right to choose. My opponent, the Bush Administration and the Republican led congress have unleashed an assault on this right.

I also strongly believe in a balanced budget. This Congress has achieved new levels of fiscally irresponsibility. In Congress I would fight to restore fiscal responsibility.
