Mary Jo Kilroy for US Congress

Background:

Last year, I came within 1,000 votes-less than ½ a percentage point-against one of the Republican House leaders, despite being outspent by $2,000,000.

Goals:

Ohio's 15th District needs a congresswoman who reflects their values and will be an independent voice standing up to the failed policies of the Bush administration and leading this country in a new direction.

Issues:

1) Balancing the federal budget by implementing pay as you budgetting principles 2) Fully supporting and funding our veterans and troops, including members of the Guard and Reserve AND their families.
3) Reforming Medicare Part D to allow for negotiation of bulk rates like is done at the Veterans Administration.

Grassroots Support:

As a former Vista volunteer, I know the power grassroots organizing. Grassroots organizing will play a central role in my campaign as we deliver our positive message for change on a micro level, one meet-up, one door, one phone call at a time.

DFA Values:

I have balanced every budget I have ever faced as an elected official. I've done this while staying true to my progressive values including expanding affordable housing, extending civil rights protections to gays and lesbians in county contracting, and cleaning up the Darby watershed.
