Patricia Fleming for Arizona House of Representatives, LD25

Background:

I'm a 24 year veteran budget and manpower analyst for the Dept of the Army who has live in southern Arizona for most of the past 36 years; retired in August 2005. I have been active in local Democratic politics for the past 5 years as officer in clubs, county Dem. Party executive board, Precinct Committeeperson, AZ Dem. Party committeeperson, political campaign worker and general activist.

Goals:

I have seen our state grow in leaps in bounds in my time here and am now running for State Rep. to ensure that we continue to grow and we have a plan for the future of Arizonan. I have extensive experience in budget analysis and resource management and I think that makes me a perfect fit for the legislature. I have made the tough decisions when prioritizing the needs of government programs, where we should spend money and recourses and I have done so with great success many times over. I do not intend to just win this election and become another placeholder in the legislature. Instead, I intend to take the years of experience I have to the appropriations committee and use my talents to ensure that the needs of Arizonans are being met and that we have a solid plan for the future.

Grassroots Support:

My legislative district is huge, in fact it is the largest LD in the state of Arizona. The district stretching into 5 different counties, much includes Indian Nations like the Tohono O'Odham. I have already contacted Democratic activists in each county who will be providing grassroots support when it comes to making contact with local voters. Face to face contact is extremely important to me, even in the remote areas of rural southeastern Arizona. Voters need to meet me, and know me as a committed candidate and advocate... and I need to meet them to know what their needs and concerns are as well.

DFA Values:

I believe in the individual rights that are guaranteed by laws of man and nature, especially those that provide for health care whether or not one can afford it, quality education (whether or not one can afford it), livable wages, right to privacy and reproductive freedom. Fiscal resonsibility is the responsibility of each and every citizen, not just the government's. We have to hold legislators responsible for out of control spending and express our approval or disapproval at the election polls. I spend other's money like I would spend my own, responsibly and conservatively.
